Cycling is a behavior all streamers are trying to avoid these days. As the cost of subscription video streaming creeps up, many users find themselves deciding to simply sign up for a service to watch a single show or movie, then canceling once they’re finished to avoid being billed again.
As a smaller streaming service, Starz is more susceptible to cycling than some of its bigger siblings in the streaming market. It does not have a large back-catalog of shows that users are comfortable and familiar with to keep them occupied while they wait for a new season of their favorite show to be released.

That’s likely a big reason that Starz timed the announcement of its new price increase when it did. Starz customers have taken to social media noting that the price of their service was rising from $8.99 to $9.99 per month,...

Reese Witherspoon may be the most famous face in The Good Lie, but the film's real stars are the actors who play the four Sudanese immigrants at the heart of the story: Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, and Kuoth Wiel. Set during the Second Sudanese Civil War, which raged from 1983 to 2005, the film follows four children who survive the slaughter and then walk 800 miles to a refugee camp in Kenya. Though only two are biologically related, they become the only family any of them know, and 13 years later, they immigrate to the U.S. as part of the group...

Philadelphia — The city where America was made is gearing up for rapper Jay-z's "Made In America" music festival, which officials estimate will attract 100,000 fans to Philadelphia over Labor Day weekend.
Construction of stages and tents began this week at the somewhat unusual venue, a tree-lined boulevard in the heart of downtown. It's the first show on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to require paid admission. Rock stalwarts Pearl Jam are co-headliners of the two-day event.
Officials said there should be no problem handling the crowd considering the city's long tradition of staging much larger concerts at the same location.
"Every year, we have detailed plans for public safety, street access, trash removal and we successfully accommodate 400,000 to 500,000 visitors on the 4th of July," Mayor Michael Nutter said in a statement.
For those who can't make the festival on either Sept. 1 or 2, don't worry – filmmaker Ron Howard will be directing a movie about the show.

"Robot & Frank," the feature film debut of commercial director Jake Schreier, premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival where it earned some solid buzz, became a hot acquistion title and was the co-winner of the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize.
Well, it will add to the success it earned in Park City as the film continues on the festival circuit, hitting Los Angeles this weekend in advance of its release later this summer. Starring Frank Langella, James Marsden, Liv Tyler and Susan Sarandon, the unusual and unique tale is set in the near future and follows Frank, a retired cat burglar with two grown kids who are concerned he can no longer live alone. They are tempted to place him in a nursing home until Frank's son chooses a different option: against the old man's wishes, he buys Frank a walking, talking humanoid robot programmed to improve his physical and mental health.

America will be the first audience for the Queen of Pop in over two years when Madonna takes the stage at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis as the halftime act for Super Bowl Xlvi. If her history with MTV is any indicator, she's likely to blow the roof off the joint.
Madonna is known for her over-the-top live performances and will most assuredly have her game face on with the world watching this Sunday. Not that she ever slacks in the live performance department: Her most recent tour, Sticky & Sweet, was the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo artist and the fourth-biggest tour of all time. The nearer Queen of Pop Madonna's Super Bowl halftime show gets, the more excited we become. After getting an early look at her stage (above), (reported!) setlist and confirmation that M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj will appear alongside the pop icon, we're sure this is going to be one of the best halftime shows ever!
So, as we prepare for the big day, we thought it might be fun to take a walk down memory lane with a look at some of the best live performances of the tunes she will bring to life for the biggest televised event of the year.
While the setlist has not been officially revealed, it leaked in December and if photos of her stage are any indication, the leak looks solid and she'll almost certainly be striking a pose on Sunday, so let's start there.

It's been a busy few weeks in Madonna land.
We finally got confirmation that the Queen of Pop would indeed be headlining the halftime show at Super Bowl Xlvi. Soon thereafter, a series of tweets from Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. revealed that filming for the video to "Gimme All Your Luvin," the first single from her forthcoming, still-untitled 12th studio album, was underway. And this week, we found out that said album would be released by Interscope as part of a three-album deal, making her label-mates with Lady Gaga and Eminem.
"We couldn't be happier to work with [Interscope's] Jimmy Iovine, [Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group] Lucian Grainge and the entire Interscope team," Madonna's longtime manager Guy Oseary said in a statement. "We anticipate a very bright future at our new home."
Now comes word that Her Madgesty has started rehearsals for her Super Bowl performance and the alleged setlist has been leaked to fan site Madonnarama.

It seems like an age since Coldplay last released an album. It’s actually only been three years since Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends was released, but three years without a fix has been a wait that’s seemed much longer for Coldplay addicts. However, they should be used to waiting this long – every album that Coldplay has released has been two or three years since its predecessor. It’s hard to believe that Mylo Xyloto is the band’s fifth studio album. It seems as if they’ve released much more, but this is mainly due to the undying popularity of songs such as Yellow, The Scientist, Speed of Sound and Viva La Vida, to name just a few.

Of plans for any more live shows, Mason told BBC 6 Music: "The answer is, no-one's said we will never work again. "I think it's very unlikely we are going to go out on tour - I think Roger's really happy working on his own now, it's hard to see him thinking he'd like to come back. It's hard to see Dave thinking he'd really like to work full time with Roger. "On the other hand, I live in hope we would absolutely do another Live 8 or play together for the right reasons. Certainly the other two know my stance on this." He added that plans for a charity show last...

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has announced that the iconic British band could reunite for charity.
The group, who last performed at the Live 8 concert in 2005, have been inactive for a number of years – but Mason says the right cause could prompt them to put aside their differences.
“I think all of us would like the idea of repeating the Live 8 concept… something that’s not necessarily for us, but do something for the right reasons and enjoy doing it,” he said. “I think it would be a very nice way for a band to gently move towards retirement, by doing shows absolutely for charity rather than for more income.”

The concert – which benefited the Hoping Foundation – saw performances by Tom Jones, Nick Cave (joined by Kate Moss on tambourine), and a reuniting of Pink Floyd legends David Gilmour and Roger Waters.

Bob Geldof has urged the British public to "be proud" of its charitable efforts in the 25 years since the Live Aid fund-raising extravaganza. The former Boomtown Rats' frontman helped organize the multi-venue concert on July 13, 1985, which was held to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia. An estimated two billion viewers watched the live broadcast around the globe, donating more than $225 million to the cause.
And now, 25 years later, Geldof has spoken of his pride in Britain for leading the way for the rest of the world by contributing to Live Aid and 2005's Live 8, which marked the 20th anniversary of the original event. In a column in British newspaper The Sun, Geldof writes, "This country and its people have for 25 years, since Live Aid, led this massive global effort."

In his latest headline-making turn behind the wheel, pop singer George Michael was arrested on Sunday in London on suspicion of being unfit to drive. Michael was taken to a London police station after cops received reports that a car had smashed into a building. David Gilmour wrecked plans for a Pink Floyd reunion by refusing to take part, according to his former bandmate Roger Waters. Waters left the band in 1985 after the deterioration of his relationship with Gilmour, who split the band for good a decade later.
Pink Floyd reunited in 2005 for Live 8, a one-off charity concert to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, and they were offered huge sums to repeat the feat and take the band on tour. Waters admits he was keen to play on - but Gilmour vetoed any hope of a full reunion by refusing to participate.
Waters tells the Associated Press, "David (Gilmour) is completely disinterested in anything like that. After Live 8, I could have probably gone for doing some more stuff, but he's not interested, so it is what it is."...

Bob Geldof has reportedly sent a hand written response to a film director who he believes has unjustifiably attacked his charitable music campaigns. In the 6,000-word letter, Geldof told Starsuckers helmer Chris Atkins that he has used his fame to persuade world leaders to take global poverty seriously, contrary to anti-poverty demonstrators who he described as being "a bit lame" and almost entirely ineffectual. The film, which will be broadcast on More 4 on Tuesday, is a polemic against media and celebrity and alleges that money raised from the 1985 Live Aid concerts was misspent and led to deaths. According to The Guardian, it also criticises the Live 8 concerts as overshadowing efforts by campaigners from the Make Poverty History coalition. Geldof denies the allegations made in the film and his lawyers have written to the film-makers and are also in contact with (more)...

Singer pens letter to director of documentary that criticises his rock concert campaigns
The singer and activist Bob Geldof has launched an impassioned defence of his lifetime's charitable work, claiming he has used his fame to persuade world leaders to take global poverty seriously and mocking anti-poverty demonstrators as "wankers dressed as clowns".
His comments were penned in a 6,000-word letter to the director of a documentary that makes stinging and, Geldof believes, entirely unjustified criticisms of his rock concert campaigns.
In an attempt to persuade the director to retract the allegations from the film, which will be broadcast next week, Geldof wrote a meandering and at times emotional explanation of his work.
In the letter, seen by the Guardian, Geldof claimed to have had significant influence over world leaders, including Tony Blair, in the run-up to the 2005 G8 summit, and contrasted the achievements of his Live 8 campaign with...

There are few people in the music industry who have the presence of Bono. The Irish frontman of U2 knows no limitations when it comes to fighting poverty and hunger, and is constantly in direct contact with world leaders and policy makers in his quest to make the world a better place.
Bono was inspired to get involved in charity work after seeing The Secret Policeman’s Ball in 1979. In 1986 he helped organize Amnesty International's Conspiracy Of Hope tour alongside Sting, who was one of the Secret Policeman’s Ball performers seen by Bono, Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed, and Bryan Adams. He also got involved in the Band Aid and Live Aid projects which were organized by Bob Geldof – another Secret Policeman’s Ball performer, and later helped Geldof organize the 2005 Live 8 project.

Back in 1985, July 13 became known as “The Day That Music Changed the World” — or at least that’s what Live Aid was called in its marketing materials. Big, sweeping charity festivals are common now, but in ‘85 Live Aid was really a revolutionary concept: One day, two main sites, several dozen bands and a single cause. The concerts in London and Philadelphia — featuring memorable sets by Queen, U2, Bob Dylan, Madonna, Sting and Run-d.M.C. — brought in nearly $50 million for famine relief in Africa, and the performances were watched by 400 million people in 60 different countries around the world.
The ringleader in all this? An Irish gentleman named Bob Geldof, who is known best for his charity work (he also organized Band Aid and Live 8, among others). But he got his start in the music business as the frontman of the Boomtown Rats, an underrated band who scored a hit in 1979 with “I Don’t Like Mondays.

Peaches Geldof was "stroked" by Michael Jackson. Peaches - the daughter of Live 8 founder Bob Geldof - once sat on the "Thriller" singer's lap when she was eight and on holiday in the U.S.
Speaking on British TV quiz show "Celebrity Juice," the 19-year-old blonde said: "I was eight years old. I was at Disneyland with my family."
"Michael Jackson was there doing some sort of promotional thing. He invited a load of kids who were staying in the Disney hotel to come meet him."

Pink Floyd rocker Richard Wright has died at the age of 65, after a short battle with cancer.
The keyboardist was a founder member of the hugely successful band, along with former school friends Roger Waters and Nick Mason.
He helped write a number of the group's hit albums including Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here before quitting in 1981 following a bust-up with Waters.
After an unsuccessful attempt at a solo career, Wright rejoined Pink Floyd six years later, after Waters had left, and he continued to perform and record with Mason and new frontman David Gilmour.
Wright reunited with Waters onstage in 2005 when the group put aside its differences to perform at the Live 8 charity concert in London - but dismissed suggestions the band may reform for a money-spinning tour.
Confirming his death on Monday, Wright's spokesperson tells Gigwise.com, "The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness, that Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer.
"The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
It is not known what form of cancer Wright suffered.
He is survived by his third wife Millie, their son Ben, and his two children from his marriage to first wife Juliette Gale.
