An Almost Painfully Unfunny Train Wreck - Avoid at all Costs!
fivefortheroad24 August 2005
This has to be one of the most poorly conceived shows Comedy Central has ever regurgitated onto the airwaves. It's almost impressive how it manages to fail on every conceivable level. Let's not even waste our time with the panel "discussions" with DL mumbling unintelligible "jokes" that were cringe-worthy back in 1991 - All the while his D level guests gaze off into the middle distance in obvious discomfort. In the few episodes I suffered through, DL and his crack writing staff wrestled with such middling "What Ifs?" as black astronauts, black republicans and, hold onto your sides, the birth of insulting a black man by calling him "bitch". God forbid you take a risk with something that might be considered even remotely intelligent. Don't worry, D.L. You'll have plenty of time to consider all that in the near future when you reflect on how you blew one hell of an opportunity to put together an original show.

Weekends at the DL provides a nice "pick me up" after a hard weeks' working
bigjdog6 November 2006
Without a doubt, Weekends at the DL provides great laughs, a fun atmosphere and a great "groove". The show makes you feel like your'e in the back stage of a genuine 1990's club backdrop which is only amplified by the abundance of Cuban Cigars and fine wine. I have to say, this show would be fun to be on but not as fun to watch! The playful banter D.L jitters to his guests is more than enough to throw you out of your'e seat and his revolutionary skits are orgasmic in nature. If you ever want a good laugh, fun time, and good "cool down town", Weekends at the DL is the place. Since, I have nothing else to say, I will just fade out with a nice tone. What in the World is this?

D.L. Hughley has never been funny. I've watched his comedy specials and his old shows and this new one. He is really not funny. Hes just bland. I also don't get this show. Its like talk with sketch thrown in there. It just doesn't make sense. I definitely choose Too Late with Adam Carolla over this. I also haven't seen that many good guests. I've seen three people who I am a fan of on this show, Lewis Black, Orlando Jones and Patrice O'Neal. I've also seen Craig Anton and Tom Kenny in D.L.'s sketches, but I don't count them. I've seen unfunny people such as D.L. on the show like Lisa Lampanelli, Sean Hayes, Andy Dick (who used to be funny, but now hes a sell out.) and many other unfunny people. Do not watch Weekends at the D.L., watch Too Late with Adam Carolla.

Refreshing & Entertaining - 30 Min Show Too Short
dleong1026 August 2005
His first show was disjointed, but it got better though. DL needs more time for this show. 30 minutes is not enough time to spend with an opening monologue, and then 3 guests on his sofa at one time. An hour would be more sufficient to spend interviewing his guests properly. DL shows off his brand of comedy in a perfect venue. Even after bleeping out the cuss words, it still delivers the message. His witty commentary on current events are funny and can appeal to a wide audience.

If viewers only saw the first show, I can see why no one would look at it again. It was poorly edited and had no flow. I suggest viewers give his show another viewing before making a final judgment.
