An hour showcase of of surfing cutbacks, a little splash of artful camerawork, and effectively a mix tape of indie instrumental music circa the late 1990's. One weird question, why is this listed as a TV movie? Was is an afterschool special here in CA?!?
Anyways, don't expect much dialog or glimpse into the surfers themselves. The names are written on the screen, but if you can draw an inference of personality from those, you're a better person than I.
Things I remember from the film, the opening shots (though wordless there is a sort of surfer personality I recall from my So Cal daze....and I was not *not* in that tribe), the Friends of Dean Martinez' "Pretty Little Horses" song, and then the demolition art-car out in the desert. Well also the battle of the surf cosplayers, which honestly indicated to me that this short film could have been even shorter.
The DVD came with a bunch of funky promos for other independent surf/art films...was kind of fun to breeze through those.
