Bloody Disgusting has learned the sad news tonight that prolific horror filmmaker Jeff Burr, who notably directed Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, has passed away.
Jeff Burr was just 60 years old.
Prior to making his mark on the Chainsaw franchise with the fan favorite third installment, Jeff Burr directed 1987’s Vincent Price-starring From a Whisper to a Scream and 1989’s Stepfather II: Make Room for Daddy. He later directed 1993 sequel Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings.
Jeff Burr’s directorial credits also include 1990s horror movies Puppet Master 4, Puppet Master 5, and Night of the Scarecrow, as well as The Werewolf Reborn!, Phantom Town, The Boy With the X-Ray Eyes, Straight into Darkness, Devil’s Den, Resurrection, Gun of the Black Sun, Tornado Warning, and in more recent years, Puppet Master: Blitzkrieg Massacre.
Friend/writer Shane Bitterling writes on Twitter tonight, “Just got an awful phone call. One I’ve had far too many of recently.

★★☆☆☆Based on the previously well-documented true story of the West Memphis Three, Canadian director Atom Egoyan's Devil's Knot (2013) attempts to dramatise Mara Leveritt's novelisation of the same name. The result is a melodramatic, calculable and subsequently dull procedural that makes you baffled by its inertness. When three boys are found brutally murdered in an area ominously known as the "Devil's Den", locals - including one of the boys' mother's Pam Hobbs (Reese Witherspoon) - are left paralysed. Three teenagers, Damien (James Hamrick), Jessie (Kristopher Higgins) and Jason (Seth Meriwether), are soon charged as accused members of this sinister satanic cult.

Gettysburg, Pa. -- The commander of the Confederate army marched to the front of the makeshift classroom in jeans and a dress blue shirt to deliver battle plans to his top lieutenants, complete with a PowerPoint presentation and laser pointer.
Gen. Robert E. Lee would have been proud, if not perplexed, in seeing how Brian Gesuero took charge of the preparations for recreating the Battle of Gettysburg.
This year's commemoration has even more significance, given that it's the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, and Gettysburg will represent the pinnacle of the re-enactment careers of thousands of Civil War buffs.
"This will be special, different than the other ones. It's the turning point of the war," said Gesuero, 44, a firefighter from Federalsburg, Md. "This is our one chance to do it right."
Actually, the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg is so big that it's getting two separate re-enactments.

Ever since the original Final Destination, actor Devon Sawa has continued to dabble within the horror genre by appearing in such films as Devil's Den and more recently landing a gig in 388 Arletta Avenue :). He's not stopping there, though, as word of his next project, Sibling, has hit the interwebs.
According to Pittsburgh Live, the film directed by Matt Orlando also stars Michael Clarke Duncan (The Island, Planet of the Apes, The Green Mile) and Mischa Barton (Homecoming, The Sixth Sense).
Duncan, who arrived Monday in Pittsburgh for the shoot, plays a principal. Barton is a guidance counselor, and Sawa is a local police officer. Other than that, details are slim, but Pittsburgh Live states that it's a "whodunit" that takes place in a school. Silbing is looking to wrap filming around Christmas.
