This is by far the best Sonic racing game yet. This is also one of the best company mascot racers as well and certainly one that is not a Mario Kart knockoff*coughCrashTagTeamRacingcough*. Sega finally brings us a game that brings back a true speed based Sonic game. The game offers a variety of characters, some we've known and loved, like Sonic and Knuckles, and some brand new faces, like the Babylon Rouges. This game is a solid multiplayer title that any Sonic fan will love. As a treat for hardcore Sonic fans, Sega brought back three old favourites from their older games as hidden unlockables, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, NiGHTS from NiGHTS into Dreams..., and Ulala from Space Channel 5. This game will please all who play it and surely will not let you down.

When you get used to the controls and game play style, this game is GREAT FUN!!!!!! Sure the controls were hard to get used to for me for instance, but eventually I got the hang of it, then I began to play this game more and more. This game has great open levels with amazing 3D graphics, along with a honorable AMAZING soundtrack! I love bopping along to the funky tech-no tunes in the game while racing. Many characters can be unlocked in the game which is a good thing and also you get to play on 2 sides of the story: Hero and Babylonian. The game features new characters; Jet the Hawk, Wave the Swallow and Storm the .... something XD. But yeah, I forget what kind of animal Storm was. I enjoy a lot of the game and I can't wait to play Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. This game is also very strangely addictive and fun when you get the hang of it!

When i first heard about A new Sonic R type game, i had my doubts.... the previous Sonic The Hedgehog Racing games were all even below a poor score! Sonic Riders over comes all the previous Sonic Racing games which were seen on Sega Saturn and Gamegear.... The graphic standard blows previous games away, Sonic Riders has lovely clean and clear scenery, the character models are at a higher standard to that of Shadow the hedgehog....which is Sonic Teams most recent failure Most of the new Sonic games have been below what the fans have anticipated. The Sonic Adventure series had decent story lines and the voice acting was immaculate. Sonic Heroes while it still had the awesome voice overs, lacked that sense of story and became something like a cheesy movie.... Sonic games after Heroes have continued to go down the Cheesy path, with the "hey let's be good, save the world" attitude. There just isn't any true enemy's for Sonic anymore...
Riders Brings in 3 new characters, who are known as the "Babalon Rouges" These characters prove competition to the 3 main characters Which are Sonic, who's rival is "Jet the Hawk" Leader of the Rouges. Tails, who's rival is "Wave the swallow" Who is the teams mechanic making their "Extream gear" hover boards, and finally Knuckles new rival is "Storm the Albatros" Who is like the dumb strong guy of the rouges.
The story lines are pretty good and beat those of "Shadow The Hedgehog" and definitely "Sonic Heroes" It's just refreshing to actually see some kind of spark between the characters, Sonic and Jet obviously don't like each other, it's good to see that Sonic has a rival he can actually have as one, since Shadow has gone all Neutral anti-hero on him.

I'm sorry, really I am but what is so great about this game? It's dull and boring and jet has a stupid voice.
if i wanted to play a racing game, i'd play a fun one like Mario Kart Double Dash.
this game is very repetitive and has a weak storyline. not to mention that the life is totally sucked out of the characters that we know and love.
I was so disappointed. I was expecting that Sega would make a comeback with a gripping adventure game for the 15th sonic anniversary, after the disaster of Shadow having a gun.
Let's just hope Sonic next-gen is better.
