Jet Li stated in multiple interviews that he was not happy with this film nor its production. He went as far to say that this movie "sucked" and he had no confidence in director Philip G. Atwell. Even halfway into filming, he knew that it would receive mediocre ratings and not make profit.
When Rogue meets with the Ti brothers at the docks, Rogue speaks in Mandarin, while the Ti brothers speak in Cantonese.
To those unfamiliar with the dialects, Cantonese and Mandarin may sound similar. However, for those who speak either or both, they will recognize that the sounds of spoken Cantonese and spoken Mandarin are very different. Furthermore, a Mandarin-only speaker will not understand Cantonese and vice-versa.
Originally titled "Rogue", Lionsgate changed the title to avoid confusion with The Weinstein Company crocodile thriller "Rogue", which was originally set to come to theaters around the same time as "War".
"War" is the second of five collaborations between actors Jet Li and Jason Statham. The first was The One (2002), the third, fourth and fifth being "The Expendables" films.
