- Bob Warner: [In an interrogation room] it's hard not to think there must be some mistake with the evidence you have
- George Mason: [Referring to Marie] it's black and white: your daughter killed Reza and two of our agents. We need your help to understand what her connection to Syed Ali is
- Bob Warner: Had I known she was involved I would've done something
- George Mason: And now that you do know, does it help explain any strange behavior? Anything at all can help us
- Bob Warner: [after clearing his throat] well Marie went to college in London while I was working there. That's when her mother died and it hit her hard. It hit all of us hard
- George Mason: And?
- Bob Warner: She ran away for a while
- George Mason: How long?
- Bob Warner: Three, maybe four weeks. We got the police involved but she sent us a letter saying she was fine, that she was traveling and she just needed some space. And when she came back, well I was so grateful to see her that I stopped asking questions
- George Mason: No sense that anything had "changed" a fundamental difference?
- Bob Warner: She'd become less politically "inclined"? She's always "flirted" with causes. Respectable causes like save the wilderness or abolish the death penalty. She stopped talking about all that
- George Mason: Well, that's what happens when you're radicalized. Handlers train you to stop talking about anything and keep it to yourself. Your better to blend into the background
- Jack Bauer: [Referring to Syed Ali, while showing a picture of him] are you trying to protect this man?
- Imam Al-Fulani: No, I have no misplaced loyalties. If the man you are looking for has murdered an innocent he is guilty in the eyes of Islam as he is in yours
- Jack Bauer: The man I am looking set in motion a plan today to detonate a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles
- Imam Al-Fulani: Are you certain?
- Jack Bauer: Yes, we're certain. Our estimates are between one and two million people will die if this bomb goes off. That sir is why we need to find him now
- Imam Al-Fulani: Thank you for informing me but I can be no more honest than I have been but if you find this man perhaps I can talk to him in the way you cannot: persuade him
- Michelle Dessler: This scan just came in from the mosque: it's a burnt paper fragment found in Ali's clothing. The only thing visible to the naked eye is in the lower left quadrant. Looks like a piece of a number, a six or maybe an eight
- George Mason: Are all of our forensic people in the field?
- Michelle Dessler: We just got Murdoch from San Diego. His suppose to be an expert on computer imaging. If anyone can see this, he can
- George Mason: [after greeting each other] any way to accelerate the process?
- Randy Murdoch: [Shakes his head] my CPU is a lot faster than anything you guys got. A parallel process will take way too long. If there's anything there I'm going to get it
- George Mason: What're you doing?
- Tony Almeida: Getting more people out there to look for Jack's daughter
- George Mason: After I specifically told you to divert all resources to the bomb?
- Tony Almeida: The satellite feed is happening alright? I'm not using our resources I was telling the sheriff where to look for her
- George Mason: Tony, you're a resource: I don't need you to split your attention
- Tony Almeida: I promised Jack I would do everything in my power to look for Kim. Just like you did
- George Mason: [while raising his voice before walking away] Kim is outside the blast radius. The rest of Los Angeles isn't. Stay focused on the bomb that goes for everybody
- Mike Novick: [while entering his office] Jack Bauer is interrogating Syed Ali as we speak: we're getting a minute by minute update on his progress but nothing yet
- President David Palmer: And we're certain this man knows the location of the bomb at this point?
- Mike Novick: Jack Bauer is
- President David Palmer: Make sure he has all the resources he needs
- Mike Novick: Yes Sir
- President David Palmer: [while watching Simmons torture Stanton] Agent Simmons tells me Roger received the same training in resisting interrogation as he did but everyone breaks eventually
- Jack Bauer: I know who you are: I know everything you've done. Where is the bomb?
- Syed Ali: You're wasting time. I woke up today knowing I would die
- Jack Bauer: [Before breaking his finger] I can make you die with more pain than you ever imagined
- Syed Ali: Then I will die with much more pleasure in paradise
- Jack Bauer: Right
- Imam Al-Fulani: I am the greeter for this mosque: do you deny these men's accusations that you are planning to detonate a bomb that will kill millions of people?
- Imam Al-Fulani: [after Ali shakes his head] the Koran clearly forbids the killing of innocent and non-combatants. You know this as well as I do
- Syed Ali: We have different interpretations of the Koran
- Imam Al-Fulani: You are misguided. Someone has twisted the words of the Prophet. Allah does not love aggressors. Listen to me, the murder of one innocent let alone millions will not get you into paradise
- Syed Ali: We will continue this debate when I see you there
- Tom Baker: We've recovered the last number Ali dialed on his cell: it's a 310 area code. 555-2130. We're doing a work up on it now
- Jack Bauer: Ok good
- Kate Warner: [Standing nearby] wait, what was that number?
- Tom Baker: [after looking at Jack for approval to repeat the number] 555-2130
- Kate Warner: No, that's not possible. That's my sister's cell phone number. What's going on? What're you not telling me?
- Jack Bauer: [to Baker, asking him to leave so he can talk privately to Kate] why don't give us a minute?
- Jack Bauer: Your sister's fiancée Reza and two of our agents were found shot to death in your father's building about an hour and a half ago
- Kate Warner: What?
- Jack Bauer: Your sister Marie was with them
- Kate Warner: Marie, is she ok?
- Jack Bauer: We don't know where she is right now
- Kate Warner: When were you going to tell me this?
- Jack Bauer: As soon as we received confirmation that she was the one who pulled the trigger
- Kate Warner: What? That is ridiculous, how could you even think that?
- Jack Bauer: Because we have videotape on her. She's the only person seen leaving your father's building in about an hour and a half
- Kate Warner: [as he walks away] she was probably trying to escape. She could've been hurt. You know that he called her number but you don't know if she picked up the phone. It could've been stolen
- Jack Bauer: [When he walks back] you really believe that? You really believe she had nothing to do with this?
- Kate Warner: Yes, I really believe it
- Jack Bauer: There's one way you can prove it to me. Phone her cell phone but if she picks up, you have to talk to her. Keep her on the phone as long as possible so we can find her. That's the deal, can you do that?
- Kate Warner: Ok
- Marie Warner: [Over phone] Hello?
- Kate Warner: [as Jack listens, while other agents trace the call] hi, it's me: I haven't been able to reach dad. His not back yet. What's going on?
- Marie Warner: Just taking a drive, clear my head
- Kate Warner: I understand. I'm so sorry, about everything
- Marie Warner: Yes
- Kate Warner: Want to meet back at the house? Grab a bite? Can you?
- Marie Warner: They found Reza haven't they? They know what's happened?
- Kate Warner: [Beginning to cry] I don't know. I don't know what happened. Please tell me what happened?
- Marie Warner: You wouldn't understand
- Kate Warner: You killed Reza, and those agents
- Marie Warner: People have to die for things to change
- Mike Novick: Sir, are you aware Jack Bauer is threatening the lives of Syed Ali's family?
- President David Palmer: No, where is his family?
- Mike Novick: In their own country: CTU has been in contact with security forces and has Ali's family in custody. We just got word that Jack has requested to kill the family one by one until Ali tells us the location of the bomb
- President David Palmer: [after going into his office] would the security forces do this in your estimation?
- Mike Novick: Their government is afraid of what we will do in retaliation if the bomb does go off, so yes I think they would
- President David Palmer: Can we let this happen? Condone the murder of innocent people?
- Mike Novick: The argument would be that the bomb is an act of war. War inevitably results in civilian causalities
- Mike Novick: I don't want a rationale. I don't know of a war where a president knowingly targeted children for assassination
- Mike Novick: Compare this to a weapons factory we discovered near a hospital. A situation we have faced, bombing would still be ordered and many more people would be saved by the destruction of the factory. The numbers are even more compelling here. A few people have to die to save millions
- President David Palmer: How could it come to this?
- President David Palmer: [Referring to killing Syed Ali's family if he doesn't give them the location of the bomb] I can't let you do this
- Jack Bauer: Sir, Ali was willing to take his own life to complete his mission: his only vulnerability is his family
- President David Palmer: That will not be the official policy of this country to kill innocent children
- Jack Bauer: Sir, the actual killing would take place in his country. You would not have to be involved. This would be a field decision
- President David Palmer: [Before hanging up] the decision is final. I'm sorry
- Jack Bauer: [Pretending to be still talking to the President in front of Ali to coerce him into giving them the location of the bomb] I understand Mr. President. No, I do not think there's another alternative. I know it's a difficult decision Sir. Yes Sir. Thank you for your support Mr. President
- Sherry Palmer: [Meeting privately] your meetings changed: that was with me
- Sherry Palmer: [while she tries to walk away] no don't go anywhere. We need to talk
- Lynne Kresge: I don't think so
- Sherry Palmer: Oh, yes we do. You think you've connected me to Roger don't you? That's exactly what they want you to think
- Lynne Kresge: Who is "they"?
- Sherry Palmer: The people Roger's conspiring with
- Lynne Kresge: So you're confirming Roger Stanton's involved? He knew about this bomb ahead of time?
- Sherry Palmer: Oh, Roger's more involved than David could possibly know
- Lynne Kresge: The hell does that mean? This "conspiracy", what's its goal then?
- Sherry Palmer: To take over the Presidency. These people are feeding you misinformation about me because they are afraid I'll get in the way
- Lynne Kresge: If you're not involved, how did you know about this meeting?
- Sherry Palmer: I don't have to be involved to know the moves their making
- Lynne Kresge: And if you knew what Roger was doing, why the hell haven't you said anything the President?
- Sherry Palmer: Probably for the same reason your keeping this information from him. I want to have as much concrete evidence as possible
- Lynne Kresge: You could've said any of this to me back at the retreat. Why couldn't you?
- Sherry Palmer: To make a point, that's all
- Sherry Palmer: To make a point? I think this is a warning. I think you orchestrated all of this to show me how powerful you are and I believe you have your own and not the President's best interest at heart. And I will do everything in my power to make sure you don't undermine this Administration
- Lynne Kresge: Can I have a quick word with you please?
- Mike Novick: Yeah sure
- Lynne Kresge: I don't trust Sherry Palmer and I don't think she should be here
- Mike Novick: I'm up to my eyeballs trying to hide this interrogation with Roger Stanton from Washington: if you have a problem with this, deal with it yourself please
- Lynne Kresge: You know me well enough to know that this is not some battle over turf. This is about Roger Stanton
- Mike Novick: What?
- Lynne Kresge: I was waiting for the appropriate time to tell you. I wanted to be sure. Someone has approached me with evidence of a flurry of communication between Roger Stanton and Sherry Palmer and it had been over the last six months
- Mike Novick: Roger he said he met her today for the first time
- Lynne Kresge: Yes, I know
- Mike Novick: My God
- Lynne Kresge: You've known Sherry for a very long time. You know how she operates. Well this shouldn't be too much of a shock to you
- Mike Novick: [Shaking his head] Sherry Palmer is a lot of things but a traitor to this country, I don't believe that. What kind of "communication"? By phone calls?
- Lynne Kresge: Yes, phone calls, emails, and face to face
- Mike Novick: Who's your source on this?
- Lynne Kresge: Up until I've been everything through an intermediary that I actually have a meeting with the source in about ten minutes
- Mike Novick: Where?
- Lynne Kresge: Outside. Are you telling the President?
- Mike Novick: No, he has enough on his plate already and he'd want proof anyway. You can go ahead with your meeting. Let me know what happens. Be careful
- Mike Novick: I will thank you
- Syed Ali: [Giving him the location of the bomb] it is at Norton Airfield
- Jack Bauer: Why? What's the plan?
- Syed Ali: We were going to fly over downtown: it is true
- Jack Bauer: [Calling CTU immediately] It's Jack, give me Mason
- Jack Bauer: [to George] It's Jack
- George Mason: What'd you have?
- Jack Bauer: The bomb is at Norton Airfield. Their putting it on a plane to fly over the city
- Michelle Dessler: Norton's a medium size airfield with cargo planes, private aviation. Every tail number ends with an N, that's probably what this paper is referring to. It's still on partial but it narrows down the search
- George Mason: [to Jack] we're on our way
- George Mason: [to CTU personnel] we're moving in. There's Bravo, Echo, and Lima. Norton Airfield is where we have reason to believe where the bomb is located. Call FAA and have them ground all the flights in and out of Norton. In the event they do get the plane in the air, we want two F-16's ready to intercept. Get some bomb units and SWAT teams over there as well. Let's move, remember everybody the "non-necessary contact" rule remains in place
