- Eddie Grant: You broke the guy's ankle, Jack.
- Jack Bauer: He shouldn't have been playing with adults.
- Lynne Kresge: Quantico wants permission to relay the nuclear threat to the midlevel tacticians
- President David Palmer: How many people are we talking about?
- Lynne Kresge: Between six and seven hundred
- President David Palmer: Only if they can assure they are fully able to contain the information
- Lynne Kresge: I will confirm that before I give approval Sir
- President David Palmer: I want everyone to know besides the nuclear bomb going off in Los Angeles, I'm just as concerned with the dangers of panic and mass hysteria
- Lynne Kresge: Absolutely
- President David Palmer: So, where are we on with everything else?
- Lynne Kresge: Well, NSA is taking a two prolonged approach: they are trying to pick up a trail on any known Second Wave terrorist and they are also trying to source stolen weapons grade nuclear materials
- Michelle Dessler: [while in a helicopter] you'll be dropped three blocks away from the salvage yard
- Jack Bauer: What about the car?
- Michelle Dessler: It's ready. I got a tracker in the trunk
- Jack Bauer: Good
- Michelle Dessler: We've been monitoring the yard, we haven't seen Wald come in yet
- Jack Bauer: What about his people?
- Michelle Dessler: Not sure
- Michelle Dessler: [Showing images on a laptop] any of these men look familiar?
- Jack Bauer: Yes that's Eddie Grant: his one of Joe's go-to guys, when I was undercover we were friends. That's good. As soon as I'm in, I don't want to see any of our people. You keep everyone at a distance. You got any more information about the size of the bomb?
- Michelle Dessler: Not yet
- Lynne Kresge: Sir, the press is starting to ask questions: they know you cut your fishing trip short and they'd like to know why
- Lynne Kresge: [after the President sighs] if you'd like I can get Jenny to take care of it
- President David Palmer: No, I better take care of it myself
- Lynne Kresge: Yes Sir
- Eric Rayburn: Sir, we've got a lot to cover
- President David Palmer: I have to deal with the press
- Eric Rayburn: Sir, we have a serious situation here. Taking a time out to coddle the media
- President David Palmer: What you don't get Eric is once the rumor mill starts, then we've got two problems: the last thing we need mass hysteria
- Jack Bauer: [Over the phone] let me speak to Tony
- George Mason: What'd you need?
- Jack Bauer: Have you guys picked up Kim yet?
- George Mason: No, I'm not going to lie to you. Grofty just got to the house a few minutes ago and she wasn't there
- Jack Bauer: What're you guys talking about? Where is she?
- George Mason: Well, we don't know, we're looking for her, she wasn't at the house
- Jack Bauer: Damn it, I told you the second if you knew anything
- George Mason: Yeah and I was just picking up the phone. Calm down and relax
- Jack Bauer: Don't tell me to relax
- George Mason: Look, Grothy is going to stick around until Kim gets back. In the meantime hang in there
- Jack Bauer: Just find Kim ok?
- George Mason: That's what we're doing. We're going to find her, we're going to get her out of LA ok? Trust me
- Jack Bauer: Ok thank you
- President David Palmer: Ok what did Wieland want?
- Lynne Kresge: His sniffing around. I think his putting it together
- President David Palmer: How could he be putting it together? I just found out myself less than an hour ago
- Lynne Kresge: I'm sure he doesn't know the details but you know Wieland, he knows everyone and they all owe him
- President David Palmer: [sighs] ok keep your eye on him for now. We start going out our way to put off the press it'll backfire. They'll know something's up
- Lynne Kresge: I agree
- President David Palmer: I have to get back to the OC
- President David Palmer: Are we narrowing things down the wrong way? I mean are we making any head way?
- Eric Rayburn: It's too soon to tell
- President David Palmer: Too soon? Aren't we operating under the assumption this bomb could go off at any moment?
- Eric Rayburn: What can I say Mr. President I've never been sanguine about our chances of stopping it, not with just a few hours warning
- President David Palmer: What does that suppose to mean?
- Eric Rayburn: I'm not going to give up Sir. Every protocol is being followed, every resource is being tapped but if I were you I'd give serious thought about what your plan of action will be if in fact we have a detonation. So I still feel a discussion with the Pentagon this morning is in order
- President David Palmer: Alright, thanks
- Eric Rayburn: Yes Sir
- Lynne Kresge: I just spoke with Jenny. I'm afraid we have a problem
- President David Palmer: What now?
- Lynne Kresge: Ron Wieland: his convinced the network to give him ten minutes live report today at noon
- President David Palmer: For what?
- Lynne Kresge: He saw that the alert level has changed and that you are managing the situation from here
- President David Palmer: Damn it. Now his going live based on what?
- Lynne Kresge: Jenny doesn't know Sir and I'm assuming that he will avoid the facts and present the rumor
- President David Palmer: I'm sorry. I'm not mad at you
- Lynne Kresge: There's no need to apologize, how would you like to proceed?
- President David Palmer: Set up a private interview in ten minutes with Mr. Wieland. The condition is no one is to know
- Lynne Kresge: Yes Sir
- President David Palmer: And get Armus over here
- Lynne Kresge: Yes Sir
- Jack Bauer: Hey man how you doing?
- Dave: Hey, you know what? Get the hell out of here
- Jack Bauer: I just want to bum a smoke
- Dave: Well, I don't smoke so get out
- Jack Bauer: You're packing the fuse a little too tight sport
- Dave: What'd you say?
- Eddie Grant: Making friends Jack?
- Jack Bauer: Your guy's a moron. What'd Joe say?
- Eddie Grant: Joe's busy maybe tomorrow bro?
- Jack Bauer: Look man, I just need to speak to him for five minutes
- Eddie Grant: Yeah well, his busy. We got this "thing" going down today swing by tomorrow around four?
- Jack Bauer: Yeah ok. That's cool
- Jack Bauer: [Over the phone] it's me
- Michelle Dessler: Did you get to Wald yet?
- Jack Bauer: No, not yet. I'm with his crew. Their shutting me out. I think you've got to pick these guys up
- Michelle Dessler: Why?
- Jack Bauer: Their packing charges. Their involved
- Michelle Dessler: Look if we pick them up, you think they'll lead us to Wald in time?
- Jack Bauer: I don't know
- Michelle Dessler: Well stick with them until they do. NSA just upgraded our role in today's probable's threat. That puts us a click away from the Second Wave terrorist
- Tony Almeida: Where you going?
- George Mason: Bakersfield
- Tony Almeida: What for?
- George Mason: Following up on a lead. We're shorthanded today so I've got to cover it myself
- Tony Almeida: Peter's assigned to Bakersfield
- George Mason: I put him on something else
- Tony Almeida: Why?
- George Mason: I don't have to tell you that
- Tony Almeida: I guess I disagree. I mean if you're just trying to get outside the blast radius
- George Mason: The hell do you think you are? Do you have access to my information?
- Tony Almeida: No, I don't
- George Mason: Then keep your mouth shut and do your job
- Ralph Burton: [Over the phone] did you get something for me?
- Kate Warner: No, I couldn't get his wallet
- Ralph Burton: There are only a few things we can use to check out his connection to guy Ali: actually a passport would be ideal
- Kate Warner: I don't think he carries that around with him
- Ralph Burton: It's got to be around somewhere. Check his briefcase. Look in his car
- Kate Warner: I can't just steal his passport
- Ralph Burton: You won't have to. If you find it, just write down the dates and the countries that have been stamped for entry in the past six months. Let me know ok?
- Dave: What're you still doing here?
- Jack Bauer: Car won't start
- Dave: Yeah well take a cab. Beat it
- Jack Bauer: [while walking away] you need to mind your own business. Hey Eddie
- Eddie Grant: What?
- Jack Bauer: I hope this job isn't too important. Junior here packed the fuses too tight. There's no way it's going to blow. Your man's a joke
- Kate Warner: [Over the phone, while reading off a piece of paper she wrote on Reza's travel information] and the last entry is Frankfurt May nineteenth
- Ralph Burton: Great. That's a big help
- Kate Warner: So what does that tell us?
- Ralph Burton: We're going to compare Reza's travel dates with Syed Ali's to see if there's a terrorist connection
- Kate Warner: [Noticing Marie walked in the room then pretending to be talking to someone else before hang up] ok, that'll be great. Thank you
- Kate Warner: Well there's the bride!
- Marie Warner: I wanted to let you know Reza's parents are coming in early so I called Branson and ordered lunch. Now I feel everything is under control
- Kate Warner: Good. I'll pick it up
- Marie Warner: Thank you. I never thanked you
- Kate Warner: For what?
- Marie Warner: For everything. For being Maid of honor. For helping me with the wedding, for being my big sister. I love you
- Kate Warner: [Before hugging] oh, honey, I love you too
- President David Palmer: I understand your about to go live with a story today. Just what is it do you think is going on?
- Ron Wieland: I think the alert level has been elevated and you don't want us to know that Sir
- President David Palmer: You think?
- Ron Wieland: You want me to tell you my sources? You know I can't do that
- President David Palmer: You're barking up the wrong tree
- Ron Wieland: Well you know I don't recall the last time a journalist was able to get an interview with the President on a few minutes' notice. So my twenty-two years in the business tells me I'm barking up the right tree
- President David Palmer: I'll tell you what: there's going to be a briefing tomorrow, you want a thirty minute jump? I can arrange it
- Ron Wieland: [Asking why his bargaining with him] why are you "horse trading" with me Mr. President?
- President David Palmer: Because if you go live with unsubstantiated threats, you will cause mass hysteria and that could be worse than the threat itself
- Ron Wieland: [Surprised] so there is a threat?
- President David Palmer: We get them everyday
- Ron Wieland: So you're asking me to sit on this? Even though it's in my professional right for me to put what I've got on the air?
- President David Palmer: [Leans forward] you know me. I've been more forthcoming with the press and the public than any other politician you know. So when I ask you for a favor, I do it in the spirit of what's best for the American people
- Ron Wieland: Let me think about it
- President David Palmer: Fair enough
- Eddie Grant: You haven't changed much have you?
- Jack Bauer: What's your point?
- Eddie Grant: My point is I'm short a man and I'm on a schedule
- Jack Bauer: I'm looking for work
- Eddie Grant: You want a job? You're not going to be doing this for nothing
- Jack Bauer: My price is a thousand a day
- Eddie Grant: [Amused] I'd say you owe me a little more than that for what you did to Dave. You do this and I don't tell Joe. You don't do it, you'll be too busy looking over your shoulder to find work
- Jack Bauer: What's the job?
- Eddie Grant: You're going to like it
- Jack Bauer: [leaving a message for Kim, warning her of the terrorist threat] hey, sweetheart, it's your dad again. Look, honey, I can't tell you how important it is that you leave Los Angeles, ok? I'm sending a man over from my office, his name is Roy Grothy. His gonna pick you up at the Matheson's and take you over to Aunt Carol's. Honey, please do this for me, ok? Call me back as soon as you get any of these messages, I love you
