- Jack Bauer: [growing really disgusted with Amador's attitude] For the last time...
- [picks up some poker chips and throws them]
- Jack Bauer: ...where is the virus?
- Michael Amador: Go to hell.
- Jack Bauer: [pins Amador's arm down to the table and yells] Chase!
- Chase: [with one hand he pries Amador's pinned hand open, with the other he uses a knife to slice across Amador's open hand]
- [Amador passes out]
- Jack Bauer: When he comes to, you do the same thing to his other hand.
- Ryan Chappelle: What the hell happened?
- Jack Bauer: Nina tried to escape
- Ryan Chappelle: I know she tried to escape: how did she get shot?
- Jack Bauer: She pulled her gun. I pulled mine in self defense
- Ryan Chappelle: Just like that?
- Jack Bauer: [Nods] just like that
- Ryan Chappelle: Nina was our best chance at locating this virus. She was a material witness in an ongoing investigation
- Jack Bauer: I know exactly what she was
- Ryan Chappelle: Division's going to want me to certify this shooting
- Jack Bauer: Then do it
- Ryan Chappelle: You have to come with me to look at security playback
- Jack Bauer: Fine
- Tony Almeida: [During a briefing] most of you already know: for those of you that don't, Jack Bauer shot and killed Nina Meyers while she was trying to escape custody
- Chloe O'Brian: The order from Division specified we use "non lethal force"
- Tony Almeida: It's over Chloe, she's dead
- Chloe O'Brian: So, how are we going to find the virus? Alvers has it and Nina was our only connection to Alvers
- Tony Almeida: Not necessarily. The reason we were on Alvers in the first place was because he was Michael Amador's contact in Los Angeles, the search order for Amador is still active
- Adam Kaufman: Technically yeah but we've exhausted all of our leads
- Tony Almeida: Then run them again and widen the parameters, financial transactions, travel itineraries, and aliases. Whatever it takes to find him
- Adam Kaufman: Are we still operating under the assumption Amador's in Los Angeles with the virus?
- Tony Almeida: That's right and the Russians have just sent us some intel that supports that assumption
- Michelle Dessler: [Showing the schematics on a monitor] it's a detonating device, part of the Soviet bio warfare arsenal until the late nineteen eighties. It's used to disperse pathogens throughout the atmosphere, three weeks ago a dozen of these were stolen from an armory in the Ukraine
- Tony Almeida: They also believe Alvers and Amador are arming these devices with vials of the virus which means we all have to work fast so let's get going
- Stephen Saunders: So, tell me how it all went down in Mexico? You didn't think I'd find out?
- Michael Amador: I didn't think you needed to know: as long as you got what you wanted
- Stephen Saunders: You were stupid enough to believe Jack Bauer had turned against CTU and now you've got every intelligence agency in the country after you
- Michael Amador: Bauer's story checked out
- Stephen Saunders: Don't lecture me about Jack Bauer, what you did was stupid, greedy, and it may have cost me my advantage
- Michael Amador: I was expected to be nicely paid?
- Stephen Saunders: The authorization code is 7QV78
- Michael Amador: [after checking the amount on the computer] this is only half
- Stephen Saunders: I'll release the balance after I receive confirmation on the hotel
- Michael Amador: The deal was we get paid in full
- Stephen Saunders: The deal changed when you went down to Mexico. Now after you hit the hotel, you'll get the rest of your money
- Michael Amador: Fine
- Ryan Chappelle: [after watching surveillance footage of Jack shooting Nina] she was down when you shot her
- Jack Bauer: She was going for her gun
- Ryan Chappelle: Yeah, that's what you keep telling me
- Jack Bauer: It's the truth
- Ryan Chappelle: You knew where the security camera was: you stood in front of it to obscure any visual record of the shooting
- Jack Bauer: She was going for her gun
- Ryan Chappelle: I wish I could believe that but I don't. For God's sake, there's something called "due process." That's why we've got judges, juries, and laws
- Jack Bauer: Don't you dare talk to me about the law. Nina Meyers killed my wife and they let her go. And she would've killed my daughter if I hadn't gotten there when I did
- Ryan Chappelle: Using drugs to maintain your cover was one thing. I was willing to look the other way but I've got to answer to my bosses about the "questionable" shooting death of a key witness
- Chase: [Interrupting them] excuse me sir
- Ryan Chappelle: We're in the middle of something here
- Chase: [Sarcastically] I assume finding the virus is still a priority?
- Ryan Chappelle: What'd you got?
- Chase: We may have Amador. Chloe flagged a Zurich account registered to one of his aliases, someone accessed it locally. We'll have a point of origin any minute now
- Jack Bauer: [to Chase] get the field teams ready
- Chase: Tony's on it
- Ryan Chappelle: Jack, this isn't resolved yet
- Jack Bauer: We have a live lead Ryan
- Ryan Chappelle: And what do I tell Division? That I let you stay on active duty while you're still a subject of an investigation? It's my ass on the line here too
- Chase: Look, I've been working with Jack all day and what's happened his still operating at a higher level than anyone else in the field, including me
- Ryan Chappelle: I didn't ask for your opinion
- Chase: I'm giving it to you anyway
- Ryan Chappelle: Excuse me?
- Chase: Sir, if this lead turns out to be real, we need Jack on site and believe me you'll want him there
- Ryan Chappelle: [to Jack] they'll crucify me if I let you back out in the field
- Jack Bauer: [to Chase] give me a minute
- Wayne Palmer: [Over the phone] I thought I was clear, you can't be contacting me today
- Julia Milliken: I'm scared: they've already started questioning Beatrice and I'm next. I don't know what to say
- Wayne Palmer: Where's your lawyer?
- Julia Milliken: His not here yet
- Wayne Palmer: Ok, first of all, you're innocent, remember that alright?
- Julia Milliken: I'm not innocent. I let Sherry convince me not to give Alan his medication, I could've saved his life
- Wayne Palmer: You don't know that
- Julia Milliken: What about Sherry? Has she said anything to the President?
- Wayne Palmer: No, she told him it was an accident. Whether he believes her is another matter
- Wayne Palmer: [after David unexpectedly walks up to him then pretends to be talking to someone else] yeah, Bill the President just walked in so I'm going to have to get back to you
- Julia Milliken: [after he pauses] Wayne?
- Julia Milliken: I'm so scared
- Wayne Palmer: Yeah, I understand that remember what I said ok?
- Julia Milliken: Yeah
- Wayne Palmer: [Before hanging up] alright
- President David Palmer: What did Bill have to say?
- Wayne Palmer: He found out Alan died
- President David Palmer: That didn't take long
- Wayne Palmer: Yeah, he wants us to know we have his support on the health care bill
- President David Palmer: That's good
- President David Palmer: [Before Wayne walks away] have you spoken to Julia yet?
- Wayne Palmer: No
- President David Palmer: Maybe you should call her? Get her side of the story
- Wayne Palmer: I think we should stay far away as possible
- President David Palmer: Which means you don't believe Sherry? That it was an accident?
- Wayne Palmer: I don't know what to believe, all I know is what it will look like you calling Sherry to deal with Milliken and a few hours later he winds up dead
- Detective Michael Norris: [Shaking hands] I'm sorry for your loss
- Julia Milliken: Thank you
- Detective Michael Norris: I know this is a difficult time for you but I'd like to ask you a few questions: unless there's a problem?
- Julia Milliken: No, it's just my lawyer wanted me to wait for him before I talked to anyone
- Detective Michael Norris: Really? Then did he say why?
- Julia Milliken: [Jokingly] you know lawyers
- Detective Michael Norris: Unfortunately I do. But these questions don't require counsel, their pretty straight forward. According to the officers, you told them you were asleep in bed when the body was discovered?
- Julia Milliken: Yes. Alan and I have had separate bedrooms since the stroke
- Detective Michael Norris: And you didn't hear anything until the housekeeper woke you up?
- Julia Milliken: That's right
- Detective Michael Norris: Because she said she heard a car started up and leaving the driveway
- Julia Milliken: Our driveway?
- Detective Michael Norris: That's what woke her up. She got in time to the window to see a light colored car driving away. She thought it was a Mercedes
- Julia Milliken: I didn't hear anything so I wouldn't know
- Detective Michael Norris: Do you have any friends that drive a light colored Mercedes?
- Julia Milliken: Half the people we know own a Mercedes and we know a lot of people
- Detective Michael Norris: Are you aware the surveillance cameras in your security system are shut down? According to the time code, it was shut down about an hour before your husband's death
- Julia Milliken: Beatrice is the one who arms the system before she goes to sleep so you should ask her
- Detective Michael Norris: My partner did. She doesn't know anything about it
- Julia Milliken: Neither do I
- Detective Michael Norris: Are you sure about that?
- Julia Milliken: Yes
- Detective Michael Norris: You don't sound very sure
- Julia Milliken: Detective Norris, exactly what are you implying here? My husband was a very sick man, he died because he was sick
- Detective Michael Norris: That's "probably" true. It's beginning to look like he might've had some help
- Sherry Palmer: What's going on?
- Sherry Palmer: You tell me
- Sherry Palmer: Look, it's late and I'm a little too tired...
- Wayne Palmer: [Interrupts her] I know about Alan Milliken
- Sherry Palmer: Yes, it's awful but I already told David what happened
- Wayne Palmer: Except you left out the part about you preventing Julia from giving Alan his medication: you stood there and watched a man die
- Sherry Palmer: You would've done the same thing had you been there
- Wayne Palmer: [Angrily] I wouldn't have been there in the first place
- Sherry Palmer: Listen, David asked me to come here to help clean up your mess, what did you think he expected me to do?
- Wayne Palmer: What he expected for you was to get Alan off his back but not like this
- Sherry Palmer: Complex problems sometimes have the simplest solutions
- Wayne Palmer: Oh, for God's sake
- Sherry Palmer: You're upset. That's understandable but what's done is done
- Wayne Palmer: You are insane
- Sherry Palmer: We can control the situation, we just need to be on the same page
- Wayne Palmer: No, I'm sorry but David's going to have to handle this
- Sherry Palmer: David can't know about this. For his own protection, if he doesn't know anything, he has nothing to deny
- Wayne Palmer: We can't cover this thing up
- Sherry Palmer: We can and we will, that's why you're talking to me instead of David because you understand what has to happen
- Wayne Palmer: Yeah, you've got it all figured out don't you?
- Sherry Palmer: What did you say to Julia?
- Wayne Palmer: Not to talk to anyone until she spoke to a lawyer
- Sherry Palmer: Good then as long she keeps her mouth shut, we'll both be fine
- Jack Bauer: Look, I appreciate what you said to Chappelle earlier
- Chase: I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it
- Jack Bauer: Still
- Chase: Finding the virus is all that matters right now: everything else could wait
- Jack Bauer: Are you going to wait to tell Kim about your daughter?
- Chase: No, we already talked about it
- Jack Bauer: How'd she take it?
- Chase: She's handling it fine
- Jack Bauer: [Doubtfully] she's handling it fine?
- Chase: Look, it's between Kim and me. If you don't mind, I'd like to keep it that way
- Jack Bauer: [Sternly] yes I mind, she's my daughter
- Chase: She's a grown woman and we care about each other
- Sherry Palmer: [Over the phone] Hello?
- Detective Michael Norris: Is this Sherry Palmer?
- Sherry Palmer: Yes, who is this?
- Detective Michael Norris: I'm Detective Michael Norris of the LAPD. I'm sorry to bother you this time of night
- Sherry Palmer: Detective Norris, how did you get this number?
- Detective Michael Norris: It was given to me by a woman named Julia Milliken: do you know her?
- Sherry Palmer: Yes I do
- Detective Michael Norris: Were you with her tonight?
- Sherry Palmer: Tonight? No, I wasn't
- Detective Michael Norris: She says you were
- Sherry Palmer: Well, she's lying. I've been right here all night
- Detective Michael Norris: And where is "here"?
- Sherry Palmer: "Here" is in the district offices with my ex-husband President Palmer. He asked for my help on a political matter and I'm sorry but do you mind telling me what this is about?
- Detective Michael Norris: Mrs. Milliken's husband died about an hour and a half ago
- Sherry Palmer: Oh, I'm so sorry
- Detective Michael Norris: She claims that you and she caused his death by withholding his medication
- Sherry Palmer: Well, that's preposterous. I haven't seen Mr. Milliken or his wife in over three years
- Detective Michael Norris: And you say you were with the President, since what time?
- Sherry Palmer: Since about ten o'clock, about five hours ago
- Detective Michael Norris: And if we were to contact President Palmer, would he be able to confirm that?
- Sherry Palmer: I'm sure he will
- Detective Michael Norris: [Before hanging up] thank you Mrs. Palmer, we'll be in touch
- Wayne Palmer: [while handing him the report] outbreak scenarios from the National Health Services
- President David Palmer: Nothing like a little light reading
- Wayne Palmer: Their sending over a liaison to answer any questions you may have
- President David Palmer: No doubt I'll have many: anything else?
- Wayne Palmer: No
- President David Palmer: I'm your brother, I think I know when there's something on your mind
- Wayne Palmer: No, I just want to make sure your ok
- President David Palmer: I'll let you know when this is all over
- Wayne Palmer: I joined your Administration because I thought I'd be an asset. The last thing I ever wanted was to be a thorn in your side
- President David Palmer: You are an asset
- Wayne Palmer: There are a lot of other smart people out there you could've hired
- President David Palmer: But none that I trust as much as you
- Michael Amador: You betrayed me: you were with CTU all along
- Jack Bauer: That's right, you betrayed me too. I'm just better at it than you
- Michael Amador: It won't matter in the long run. You have no idea what you're up against
- Jack Bauer: Why don't you tell me?
- Michael Amador: He knows who you are
- Jack Bauer: What're you talking about? Who knows who I am?
- Michael Amador: "Don't presume to tell me about Jack Bauer", that's what he said. You go up against him, you're a dead man
- Jack Bauer: All I want to know right now is where the virus is
- Michael Amador: I don't know I've passed it off. Look, you can do what you want to me, I'm not going to tell you anything
- Jack Bauer: [after Amador sighs] what're you afraid of? Who are you afraid of? We can protect you
- Michael Amador: Can you?
- Jack Bauer: Yes
- Michael Amador: And my family?
- Jack Bauer: [Sternly] yes
- Michael Amador: You couldn't even protect your own
- Tony Almeida: [Over the phone] I'll put you on speaker, Ryan's with me
- Jack Bauer: We've got Amador
- Tony Almeida: What about the virus?
- Jack Bauer: We were late. He already passed it on
- Ryan Chappelle: Passed it on to whom?
- Jack Bauer: We haven't been able to find out how yet. Amador's terrified, he doesn't scare easily. He did tell me one thing though: whoever is behind this apparently knows me very well
- Tony Almeida: That's not much to go on even with its true
- Jack Bauer: Yeah, I understand that but we also can't ignore it. I want you to cross check everybody I've worked with over the last five years over both sides of the law, see what names you come up with. Check it against everything we know about the virus
- Tony Almeida: Alright
- Michelle Dessler: [Over the phone while driving with Gael to the Chandler Plaza Hotel] we're a couple minutes away from the hotel, where's NHS?
- Tony Almeida: Their getting ready: they should be there in a little while
- Michelle Dessler: "A little while"? What does that mean? Two minutes? Ten minutes?
- Tony Almeida: Probably closer to twenty
- Michelle Dessler: We don't that kind of time
- Tony Almeida: I understand but you wait until they get there alright? I don't want anyone to go inside that hotel without bio suits
- Michelle Dessler: We can't wait too long, if we wait and go in to stop the virus...
- Tony Almeida: [Interrupts her] you wait ok? That's an order
- Michelle Dessler: [Before hanging up] fine, anything else?
- Tony Almeida: No
- Gael Ortega: What's wrong?
- Michelle Dessler: Just stuff between Tony and me
- Gael Ortega: I'm sorry
- Michelle Dessler: He hasn't been right he got back from the hospital
- Gael Ortega: The last couple months Tony and I been working very closely together manning this operation. It's been eating at him not to be able to talk to you about it
- Michelle Dessler: I just want this day to be over
