- Jeff sees enticing wanted robber Vetta Nygood, tails her to a remote mountain hideout, but her accomplices nab him. The ice-cold gang leader Hammett panics, so he ties & gags Jeff up in the abandoned house's attic. Then the 3 robbers flee after divvying up the loot, before the 4th thug, the menacing Deek arrives to claim his cut. Who gets to Jeff first: a chummy rattlesnake, the cops or the vengeful Deek ?—David Stevens
- By chance, Jeff spots seductive Vetta Nygood, wanted for being one of four people who carried out a robbery one month ago, and is able to tail her to an abandoned farmhouse. There, she meets the other two known robbers, young, not-too-bright Kim MacGowen and the mastermind Mark Hammet, who are in the process of divvying up the loot in waiting for the fourth, who they call Deek and whose identity the authorities do not know, to arrive. The three are able to subdue Jeff, and on Mark's directive, decide not to wait for Deek and divide his portion among the three of them, while they tie and gag Jeff and place him in the attic where he will have to fight on his on to get loose or die trying after the three leave. They do not kill him only to avoid the death penalty if they are ultimately caught. After they leave, Jeff can only hope that others may wander by the farmhouse much like Mark did in choosing it as their meeting place. He will find that there are other hazards he will face in this situation. His saving grace may be that he telephoned Gil when he spotted Vetta telling Gil what he was planning on doing, or that the partnership between the three, or ultimately the four with Deek, will fall apart, especially if Deek feels the other three have double crossed him.—Huggo
