Beverly Mitchell (Lucy) obviously sold her soul for a (small) amount (of petty cash) to allow the network to portray her character as a simple, small brained female that can't do anything for herself while in labor, aside from being an annoying, cry baby that throws a fit about nothing every 3 minutes.
I'm sure that she's already blown through the money that they paid her to set the female race back...let's see...59 years or so.

Throughout this whole series women are almost empowered but then, whoops!
A female character gets pregnant and turns into a manic nightmare for *sigh* the great lead masculine rolls.
After season 7 this program turns into a teen soap opera with no redeeming qualities.
