Marks the first of two appearances of Bob Hastings and Eunice Christopher as arguing married couple Charlie and Reba Buehler, their disputes centered on money issues, his willingness to spend on those things important to him, including good wine, and something proverbially sweet that makes her forgive him until something unexpected sets her off again. They would appear again in Log 122: Christmas - The Yellow Dump Truck (1968). They live at the same address in both situations - 2641 West Van Arden - but the set used as the interior of their house is different between the two.
William Bramley plays Mr. Cullen, a hot dog vendor who complains to Malloy and Reed about non-customers parking in the parking lot of his hot dog stand. The officers explain to Cullen that he must have properly worded "customers only" parking signs on his lot. Bramley basically reprises the role 6 years later, in the episode "Teamwork," where he plays Fred Culligan, the owner of a hot dog joint that had non-customers filling up his parking lot. It is the exact same building and parking lot.
Malloy's serial number is 10743. Reed's is 13985. These numbers are different from their badge numbers.
586 = illegal parking.
Balloons, in reference to illicit drugs, are used to carry a small set amount of "smack", i.e. black tar heroin.
