Reed's question to Malloy at the beginning of their first shift ever together of, "Would you like me to drive?" would be a harbinger of their partnership over the entire series, where Malloy drives unless extenuating circumstances dictate otherwise.
When Malloy and Reed stop at the altercation involving the woman who believes she has a lizard in her dress, a line of cars is parked along the street. The car at the front of the line is the same Ford Fairlane 500 used throughout Dragnet 1967 (1967).
Correct: the car in front of the line is a '66 AMC Ambassador a vehicle seen many times throughout the series, not the Dragnet Fairlane.
Here, Art Gilmore portrays Lieutenant Val Wangsgard. Subsequently, he portrays Lieutenant Moore. He continues as Lieutenant Moore except for his last appearance where he has been promoted to Captain Moore.
Strangely, Malloy is said to be the senior man on the watch by Lt. Wangsgard, yet he only has 7 years of service in the LAPD at that time. One would think that there would be at least one or two other officers on the watch that would have more seniority than that.
When Malloy and Reed are leaving the recently robbed liquor store, Malloy opens the car door directly in front of an oncoming Ford Mustang in the next lane nearly resulting in an accident and possible injury.
