Lion, tigers, Comanches! It is just a baby
pensman21 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It's night and the men are late getting back to the fort, suddenly O'Hara hears a strange cry. Comanche yells O'Hara. The men scramble and Rinty rushes out and brings back a baby of maybe two years. There are no Indians, but they decide to call the baby Comanche. There is a horseman with a rifle in the bushes, but he takes off and goes to a saloon in town. His name is Manning Pringle and he's looking for Jesse Harkness who is entertaining Molly McCoy. Jesse claims he intends to marry Molly.

Someone they know named Rockwell supposedly hid something they both want. One of the last things he said was baby shoes. Where is the baby? She currently is on her way to Fort Apache. Harkness rides out to Fort Apache in a buckboard. He claims he is a Mr. Brown and he and Molly, his wife, lost their baby and are looking for him.

But when they thank Masters for finding their baby boy, Masters says don't thank him. They found a girl. Harkness attempts a bluff but ride off. Next day Masters rides into town looking for news. Clemente Pringle suggests he and brother Manning should get the baby, and cut Harkness out. It's also clear they killed her father and made her an orphan.

The storekeeper says he sold the father the baby's shoes, and her father's name was Rockwell. After Rip leaves. Clem and Manning want to know what he told the soldiers. Molly knows that Rockwell had a gold mine and that Harkness, Manning and Clem killed him.

Rip, O'Hara, and Rusty arrive at Rockwell cabin and find another girl, Aggie, about Rusty's age. She knows Harkness and the Pringles killed her father. Rip is going back to town to get the Sheriff, and O'Hara is to get everyone to Fort Apache. Harkness and the Pringles intend to kill everyone to get that baby. They start shooting and Rinty is sent off to get Rip. O'Hara wounds one of the Pringles but he is seriously outnumbered. Rinty brings Rip back just in time. A map is found in the heel plate of the baby's shoe: it the claim information.

Turns out there is no gold claim, but there is oil. Molly has taken over raising the girls, but even the oil well wasn't worth anything. Molly's happy though because she has what she always wanted: a family.
