- Clark, Lois, and Jimmy attend a ventriloquist act that goes wrong when the dummy appears to talk by itself. Upon further investigation, they link what the dummy appears to have said to a series of armored car hijackings.
- Synopsis S 1 Ep 3 The Case of the Talkative Dummy Jim's birthday is celebrated at the theater with Clark and Lois watching a ventriloquist act, Marco and Freddie. Someone in the theater is speaking when the dummy Freddie has his turn to speak. The words spoken coincide with the armored car hijackings in the area via an armored car company called Green's Inc. starting in the Green Building. Directions are provided at the theater, passed to the armored car driver, the car is then driven up a ramp within a larger truck and moved to a secret location. Words put in the dummy's mouth are the route instructions where to drive the armored vehicle and the time of the crime is given as the dummy's age. Mr. White tells Lois and Clark to get on out to Green's Inc., talk to Harold Green and get plenty of pictures for the Sunday edition. Lois says a half-million dollars disappears from an armored car and nobody has had a clue. There is also a connection to Davis, VP, an ex-con, as the theater usher blackmails Davis and Olson eavesdropping, hears the conversation between the usher and Davis. Davis kicks the collaborator out. Olson is knocked out by the usher and put into a safe being lowered via block and tackle to the street when the rope breaks. Clark is coming to interview Green, he is in Lois's car, sees through the safe, says Jim's in trouble, leaves the car, runs away to change and saves Jim from his fatal fall to the sidewalk. Clark listens to a phone conversation with the usher learning he is connected to the crimes, and passing the information. Clark hears Green's voice speaking to the usher. Clark knows Green, the usher and an armored vehicle driver are in on the crime, among others. Superman intervenes at Green's office finding Davis confronting Green for his take, Davis wants to shoot Superman. Superman talks Davis out of shooting for it is Green who's guilty, hoarding money from insurance claims Green shoots at Superman with his desk revolver, Green give up, the half-million dollars in stolen currency is in your safe, in the original bank wrappers is going to be questioned by Henderson. At Henderson's office, the Inspector states all have been caught involved in the hijackings, as the police followed them to their hideout, finding the missing vehicles.
