Three women and their missions
Tweekums21 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode we learn that Alison, the woman who killed and replaced Sydney's friend Francie in season two is alive and well and working for The Covenant. Understandably Sydney is somewhat disturbed by this news, she is equally disturbed to learn that she will be replacing Lauren as Sloane's handler.

Sydney and Alison find themselves on the same mission but working for opposing teams when they are both tasked with recovering a key that gives the holder full access to Russia's nuclear arsenal, inevitably they meeting leads to a fairly violent confrontation. Meanwhile Lauren is getting closer to learning who killed Lazerey, information from the Russians has given her a name but as of yet she doesn't know that name was an alias Sydney had used in her lost two years.

This was a good episode with plenty of action and some nice plot development. It was nice to see Alison return, I'm sure we will see a lot more of her in future.

Allison is back (and hotter than ever!)

Warning: Spoilers
I'm so glad that I didn't look at Merrin Dungey's page on IMDb to see on how many "Alias" episodes she appeared in total, because then I would have spoiled myself on the most welcome surprise of Season 3 up to this point: the return of Allison Doren, the woman who killed Sydney's friend Francie and impersonated her for the entire second half of Season 2. She re-teams with Sark and they go after a device that can control the launching of Russian nuclear weapons; Sydney and Vaughn must rely on Sloane's help to stop them. It's a credit to Dungey that she has managed to create two entirely different characters in the same TV series (of whom, I must say, I find Allison more interesting). She even has another pretty brutal, but short, fight with Sydney in this episode, and although I was afraid they would bring her back only for an one-off and then they would kill her, thankfully that is not the case. Allison dominates this episode, but the rest of it is fine as well, with Lauren continuously growing as a character and Sloane's interactions with Sydney as fascinating as ever ("The password is Credit Dauphine...for old times' sake"). *** out of 4.
