When Edith dials the doctor she remembers the number by using the PArkview telephone exchange name. She then remembers that it's all number dialing now and looks up the number but comically comes to conclusion that the number with or without using the name is exactly the same. The 1970's saw telephone numbers in the United States reverting to all number dialing in place of exchange names (I.e. instead of saying KLondike 5-7499, 555-7499 would be said instead). Interestingly during the series entire run telephone exchange names would be used on the show. The RAvenswood exchange was used as the Bunkers number while the BAyside exchange would also be used.
