- Founders Day is coming up and the Mayberry Town Council wants to get outsiders involved in the festivities. So, in an effort to advertise, Andy comes up with the idea of stopping the first out of town driver on the morning of Founder's Day and making him Mayberry's guest of honor for the day. The first driver they stop says his name is Thomas A. Moody, a traveling salesman who is all too happy to be Mayberry's guest for the day. At a ceremony in his honor, Moody is promised a tour of Mayberry with gifts from the town merchants. After the warm welcome, Andy becomes suspicious that Moody may not be all that he seems, so he makes a phone call and discovers that Moody is really Sheldon Davis, a known thief and pickpocket whose been kicked out of almost every county up and down the eastern seaboard. Panicked, Andy and Barney try to keep an eye on Davis to keep him from robbing the town blind. But when Barney tries to appeal to his better nature, Davis ends up stealing his keys which fit the locks in every store in town. Tracking him down, they catch the crook sneaking out of the back of a store and take him into custody.—J. Roberts <armchairoscars@hotmail.com>
