Clever, funny episode.

Hamilton Camp's singing is the highlight. Pleasant for an unusually lot of lines for Burt Mustin. I remember seeing BM on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" and he originally came to California for a singing competition. Interestingly he and Jack Dodson are both originally from Pittsburgh. What little we heard of JD singing he was very good. A lot of the color episodes need a solid script without Don Knotts to carry the humor. Helen is MIA repeatedly in a lot of color episodes when you'd think she'd accompany her boyfriend.

Not the best Floyd (Howard McNear) lines but he does get off a few good ones. Mother Sprague left Howard to fend for himself. Did he not take his mother's previous advice and button his jacket causing a scratchy throat?

I liked this episode. Hamilton Camp has always been an underrated character actor. When the sheriff's barbershop quartet loses its tenor, the group can't find one. Camp is in jail and it turns out he has a beautiful tenor voice. Andy must decide between his moral obligations and his dedication to the choir.
