- [interrogating his prisoner]
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: All right, so your name is 'John Smith'. Just remember there's not any Pocahontas around here to save your neck!
- Annie Oakley: Well, that makes three of a kind... and, although it's not according to Hoyle, this three of a kind gives the Diablo jail a *full house*.
- Amos Belcher: You sure where that gold was hidden?
- Lippy: You think I'd have killed my cellmate who told me? Busted out of the pokie if I wasn't sure?
- Amos Belcher: Just so happens I'm financing this expedition. I got a right to ask questions and get answers.
- Casco: He's right, Lippy. This is the fourth charge we've set off.
- Lippy: I'm just as interested in that forty thousand down there a anybody.
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: Been half an hour since Tagg went for Judge Bowen.
- Annie Oakley: You know Tagg. He probably went to the Judge's by way of the Candy Store.
- Amos Belcher: If your wife didn't get the proper care, when she could've had it, Judge, that would be a real crime.
- Judge Everard Bowen: I've resigned. There'll be a new judge here Monday.
- Amos Belcher: But, as a matter of convenience, you'll try Smith tomorrow, won't you? Two days or sixty, who'll know the difference and cares?
- Judge Everard Bowen: I'll know the difference.
- Amos Belcher: Sure you'll know. You'll know your wife was provided for. There's five hundred. The rest of it tomorrow after Smith walks out of your court a free man.
- Annie Oakley: Take a look at these. They are posters of men who have rewards on them, from 500 to 5,000 dollars. We haven't seen any of them in Diablo, so I thought you might run across some in Arizona.
- Judge Everard Bowen: Yes, you never know, do you.
- Annie Oakley: [Annie's best gunshot to date: She shoots through the rope on the bell in the bell tower opposite the Sheriff's office] Hold it! Sorry it took so long, Lofty, but they had a third one on the roof across the street to cover on them.
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: As they say, Annie, better late than never.
- Annie Oakley: Well, I just think it might be a different kind of doctor that's convinced the Judge to stay over and hold court tomorrow.
- Judge Everard Bowen: Will the prisoner rise. Is your name John Smith? I don't believe that's your name any more that I didn't believe you didn't know this man was a law officer. Besides no one is threatening or trying to bribe this court which I want to say, here and now, some unprincipled crook did. Smith, or whatever your real name is, as you know it and I know it, you're as guilty as sin. Therefore, this court finds you guilty as charged, and wishes it could uncover the many other things that must be against you.
- Jenny Bowen: Promise me one thing. One little thing. No matter what you do, Ed, don't do something you'll be ashamed of.
- Judge Everard Bowen: You won't be ashamed of me, Jenny, I promise. I promise.
