When the narrator (Ron Howard) explains what the word pussy is slang for to the British, the actor that portrays Jerry is in fact, Tony Hale; who portrays Buster.
The episode title is an homage to the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy (1983), and refers to the fact that Michael (Jason Bateman) tries to prove he isn't a "pussy" to Rita (Charlize Theron) in this episode. Fans theorise that "Notapusy" had to be spelled with one S to avoid being censored.
Michael (Jason Bateman) finding his detached bicycle handlebars in his bed references a scene in The Godfather (1972), in which a film executive awakes to find a decapitated horse head in his bed.
Ann (Mae Whitman) makes her first appearance in the third season. Although she is mentioned several times throughout Season 3, she wouldn't appear again until the finale, Development Arrested (2006).
