This is an episode from the Barbara Stanwyck Show. It ran for one season between, 1960 and 61.
Milton Berle, Katherine Squire, Larene Tuttle and Virginia Vincent are the players.
Squire and Tuttle are a pair of well off old maid sisters. Their elderly father has just died and they miss having a man around to care for.
They decide to take in a boarder. They place an ad for an "older gentlemen" of fine breeding.
The first person to answer the ad is smooth talking con-man, Milton Berle. He quickly talks his way into the house. He is suffering from a "condition" he got during the late war.
The sisters are both as happy as peaches to have someone to take care of. The sisters and their maid, Virginia Vincent , wait hand and foot on Berle. Vincent, a rather built looker, gets particular attention from our man Milt.
The gears in Berles' head really starts whirling when he discovers the sisters are worth a cool quarter million bucks each.
He puts the moves on both sisters. When he is with Tuttle, he talks about how much Squire is always batting her lashes etc at him. He tells Squire the same thing about Tuttle. Soon the two sisters are staring daggers at each other.
Now Berle tells each of the sisters that the other one is putting him in their will as a sign of love. Of course both Tuttle and Squire speed off to their lawyers to do just that.
Now Berle keeps leaving out a large bottle of BUG BEGONE poison out in sight. Both sisters needless to say get the idea to poison the other at dinner. One laces the stew and the other the soup. Tuttle and Squire serve each other a bowl of both while not giving any to Berle. Later that night both sisters keel over sick. "Call the doctor" they both plead to Berle.
Berle just smiles and leaves their rooms. The next morning Vincent finds the two dead as door-nails. "Oh Well" comments Berle. "I guess the house and everything is mine". "You still have a job." Berle says with a wink.
Berle asks Vincent to open a can of soup and heat it up. Vincent throws the soup on the stove. Berle then calls her out to the front room. Just then, the sister's family cat comes through the open kitchen window. It then runs along the shelf atop the stove knocking over the bottle of BUG BEGONE. Needless to say what it empties into.
