Bad Judgment

A devastating bomb explosion rocks a big room. One man is killed and others injured. The strength of the episode is the process used to find the bomb maker. There is a cool figure who is self taught as a bomb maker, but he doesn't seem to be at fault. The other involves some stupidity on Nick's part as a prostitute whom he has befriended has a night with him and is then strangled, setting up some serious consequences.

The Pimp and the Local Hero

When a bomb explodes in a briefcase in the lobby of commercial building killing a security guard and injuring other people, Grissom and his team are assigned to investigate the case. They try to find the maker's signature, and the other security guard, Dominic Kretzker, becomes their prime suspect since he has a great experience in bombs. Meanwhile, it is Nick's night off and he stumbles upon his acquaintance, the prostitute Kristy Hopkins, being harassed by the strong Jack Willman and he offers her a ride home. They have one night stand and Nick goes home late night. On the next morning, he heads to Kristy's home to have breakfast together and finds the police instead since she is murdered. He becomes Conrad Ecklie's prime suspect since there are many evidences of his presence at Kristy's home. Catherine asks the Sheriff Mobley twelve hours before accusing Nick to conduct her own investigation.

"Boom" is another great episode of CSI, with two storylines. He first one, relative to a bomb case, is engaging, showing the detailed investigation of the whole team to find the maker. The second one, more personal, involves Nick. Despite predictable, it is also a great segment. My vote is eight.
