At around 19 mins, the lab tech says that people who go from writing Cyrillic to English often write their nines as a lower case 'g'. That's not strictly true. The '9' certainly gets a curved tail like a 'g', but isn't drawn to resemble a 'g' deliberately. Several Cyrillic languages actually do use the 'g' symbol as a letter - an alternate form of a 'd'.
