- A man struggles on board a yacht and literally falls dead. On land, a male lap dancer is found dead after a night of partying.
- Detective Sevilla brings Horatio to a man found dead, left over from a party. Horatio is interviewing the party's women, entertained by male lap dancers, like the dead man. Calleigh, processing, finds mosquitoes on the body and an empty condom wrapper. There are tie marks around the wrists of the dead man as his body is removed the party house.
Detective Martin Puig is working with Megan and Delko at a marina where a man comes out of the Atlantic, only to drop dead on the Tupper's yacht. The body is lying astern, examiner Brian Fan says single stab wound to the gut, based upon his pallor, he apparently bled out. Megan asks where's the rest of the blood, as she wipes the deck, testing with positive results, but there isn't much of a sign of the victim's blood. She asks Delko to help search for any kind of weapon. Delko finds a flashlight with blood stains and hair, he examines and sneezes, contaminating the evidence.
Alexx declares the young victim Noel died of natural causes, while Horatio suspects one of the young women had something to do with his death.
Megan interrogates the Tupper's, Lisa Tupper hit the victim over the head with the flashlight, husband Mark was asleep on board when the stabbed stranger came on board. Megan tells Det. Puig she doesn't know yet if the assault had anything to do with the man's death.
Calleigh is examining the pristine mosquitoes found on Noel, not swatted, squished, just left dead, like Noel. An educated hypothesis is mosquitoes drink blood, so Horatio says let's have Alexx go over the body again, looking for something lethal. Ladies at the party are at HQ to offer a DNA swab, Noel had sex with one of them just before he died. One of the ladies, Claire Heitmann, steps forward as the one having sex with Noel. She says he was fine afterward, she tells Horatio she did not use a condom. The mosquitoes are telling nothing while Alexx shows Horatio a injection mark on Noel's body. There was nothing in his medical records indicating any injections taken to date, for any reason, also commenting this is one of the hardest crimes to solve. Horatio says poison. Horatio talks with Speed and Calleigh, Alexx is going to take a sample from the body, look at it, find out what it is, who gave it to him and why. Likely test his liver, it being the filter of blood.
Alexx is explaining the autopsy results to Megan, a compressed spleen, big heart and lungs, and she found an unknown microorganism in his wound, handing Megan the container for analysis.
Horatio with Speed and Calleigh are at the home of the party, namely the kitchen, all processing for whatever caused Noel to die. Horatio finds an injection object he analyzes for prints, it appears to be an Epinephrine injector.
Delko, looking in a microscope at the microorganisms, found barrel-sponge spores in his lungs found in deep water, indicating the victim was free diver, dropping below fifty-feet, without air-tanks. A dangerous sport Megan admits and Delko knows, he says deep water diving makes the organs contract. Det. Puig leads Delko and Megan to a contest location of free divers, at a nearby marina, a man, Carson Cassidy, thinks they are here about his brother, Adam Cassidy. The body was Adam Cassidy. There is another guy, Ignatio Pius, a Cuban diver, there commenting about the limits these divers push. Delko and Megan process all the knives and spear guns from the dive location. The spear gun with traces of human tissue belongs to Ignatio. Delko says to Speedle in a nearby processing area, we got a murder weapon and a suspect.
Speed holds up a pair of panties, DNA results prove they are Nikki Olson's, her bra clasp was on Noel.
Calleigh notices Horatio's evidence, an Epi pen, for the treatment of allergies, he says the print match is from Nikki Olson. Calleigh says there for a single dose, Horatio adds they could be reloaded, giving Noel his last few minutes alive.
Nikki Olson is brought in for questioning, admitting the Epi pen is hers, for bee stings. Nikki had relations with Noel, and she gave him the shot on purpose, the liquor he had contained shellfish which he was allergic, hence she offered the shot. Calleigh says the single shot could have caused a reaction for Noel, but it probably didn't kill him.
Ignatio is questioned by Megan, noting he is losing his hearing from dives, and had he dived to the depths Adam Cassidy did, his inner ear would have ruptured, hospitalizing him below fifty feet where Adam picked up the barrel-sponge spores. Ignatio is not the murderer. They have human tissue from the gun, but are missing a knife. Delko admits to Megan his mistake for not telling about the sneeze on the flashlight. Delko dives for the missing knife using an air tank and a metal detector; finds it.
There was chalk dust on a condom wrapper leading to a third grade teacher Sophia Ananova called in for questioning, denying sex with Noel. Horatio notices her nervous mannerisms, admitting being a smoker, with a nicotine patch on her, she says she is trying to quit.
Alexx and Horatio test the body area for residue of nicotine patches, noting as much a four or more patches would have killed Noel. Alexx discovers nicotine was introduced through penile tissue.
Megan swabs the found knife, no trace. Delko says Carson Cassidy won the 1998 diving contest and his brother won it every year since, and the trophy knife was Carson's, but no trace of blood. Delko opens the knife handle, exposing blood residue inside.
Horatio requests, hold it on the teacher's arrest, the box of patches was full, and it takes time to distill the nicotine. Speed and Calleigh ask where was the source of the nicotine. Horatio mentions the nearby flowerbed was filled with roses, roses have aphids, roses are sprayed to get rid of the aphids, explaining why the dead mosquitoes. Speed adds, nicotine is an age-old known insecticide. The gardener is on site when CSI comes calling to the party house, and the insecticide found by Speed is forty percent nicotine, with multiple prints on the bottle. Into the lab it goes, per Horatio.
Megan interrogates Carson Cassidy, his bare skin shows a scar from a barrel-sponge cut. Running on adrenaline, he shot at Adam, Cassidy then pulled his knife, stabbed his brother, primal instinct, but probably not intentional, under those conditions. Carson's attorney is present during this Megan statement along with Det. Puig.
Homeowner Melissa Starr received numerous phone calls from Noel. Horatio says Noel told Nikki he was seeing someone new, based on the phone calls, Horatio believes it was Melissa. It was Noel who wanted Melissa, and he thinks she cut it off by poisoning him, her fingerprints on the insecticide bottle, pouring it on a condom from Sophia's bag, letting Noel come to her. The nicotine from the insecticide-condom killed him. Melissa dropped the condom in the flower bed when she was picking up petals from the garden while speaking first to Det. Sevilla.
