- [Horatio & Calleigh look at the wreckage]
- Calleigh Duquesne: Is it as bad as it looks?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: It's actually worse than it looks.
- [last lines]
- Christina Maria Colucci: [voice-over] To whom it may concern: I hope I'm not writing this letter in vain... But I feel I have a responsibility to those who depend on us... To those who expect us to deliver an honest and fair accounting... I feel a responsibility to speak the truth... For those innocent victims who are powerless to speak it themselves... Because without the truth, we ourselves become powerless... Christina Colucci.
- Jim Tigerfish: What the hell is this?
- Tim Speedle: That's a warrant to search the premises.
- Jim Tigerfish: For what?
- Tim Speedle: For items looted from an air crash site. What'd you think, you were going to sell them on eBay?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: But that's not what brought the plane down.
- Eric Delko: No... mmm... actually the shoe hit the fan, I found a piece of leather in the N°2 engine.
- Megan Donner: [Megan cuts into their conversation] Let me guess, red suede $450 a pair, right?
- Megan Donner: Nice thing about hair, it grows at an even rate, about a half an inch a month.
- Tim Speedle: Gives us a nice time line.
- Megan Donner: Yeah, she'd been using antidepressants for the past year, Prozac and Zoloft, six months ago she smoked some pot.
- Tim Speedle: And they say blondes have more fun.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Calleigh, the bullet?
- Calleigh Duquesne: There was no bullet.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Well how did the pilot get shot?
- Calleigh Duquesne: He didn't.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [a close up of a rivet loosening appears. The pressure fires it through the cockpit where it hits the pilot] A rivet runs through it.
- Dr. Alexx Woods: [Alexx is going over the bodies] How are we doing on survivors?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Not good. How many have you got in here?
- Dr. Alexx Woods: Four or five, depending on what pieces match.
- NTSB Technician: Oh I heard of you, you're the uh bullet girl right?
- Calleigh Duquesne: And what does that make you, air plane boy?
- Eric Delko: [about Megan] What does she think? She can just waltz in here after six months of being gone and just take over?
- Tim Speedle: You know, you're an ass.
- Eric Delko: What did I say?
- Tim Speedle: She lost her husband! What did they give her, two weeks off? She needed a little bit of time, big deal.
- Eric Delko: Man, I didn't know.
- Tim Speedle: Yeah, well, there's a lot you don't know.
- Tim Speedle: Then why don't you go get them?
- [the black boxes]
- Eric Delko: Why don't you?
- Tim Speedle: [Looks in the tub and sees the alligators] ... They're just babies.
- Eric Delko: What are you waiting for? Let's go.
- Tim Speedle: On three. One... Two... Three!
- [Both reach in and grab a box with a yell. Burst out laughing]
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Listen, I am sorry for the way things turned out for you, but I did not ask for this job.
- Megan Donner: I know.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Anytime you want to take it back, let me know.
- Megan Donner: That's not my call, either.
- Megan Donner: [with Speed] This is a level two biohazard site. We should be taking precautions.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [cut to him and Calleigh] All search personnel should have Tyvexx overalls on, double gloves, masks, and decontamination after every shift.
- Megan Donner: Everyone doses up on antibiotics. The water's full of blood-borne pathogens and bacteria from body decomp, not to mention 6,000 pounds of Jet-A fuel.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: No shift should last more than 20 minutes. No food or water on site.
- Megan Donner: They won't be able to eat out there. Spray from the airboat props will cause contamination.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: We're treating this as a crime scene, which means no object too small. Any doubts, bag it and tag it.
- Tim Speedle: [talking to two witnesses] Fishing, my ass. Did you see the size of that rifle in their boat? .30-06. They were poaching gators.
- Megan Donner: There are panthers out in the Glades. How do you know the rifle's not for protection? How do you know they didn't borrow the boat? Owner left his rifle inside.
- Tim Speedle: I trust my gut. It seems pretty obvious.
- Megan Donner: You sound just like Horatio. The problem with the obvious, Tim, is that it can make you overlook the evidence.
- Megan Donner: You thinking bomb?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Well, the jury's still out. Welcome back, Megan. Why do you ask?
- Megan Donner: You're the expert.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Well, no gas washing, no pitting, no thinning of metal, no thermal effect. We still have to swab for RDX, PETN, but I think we'll know more when the evidence comes in.
- Megan Donner: NTSB told us to hold off on recovery.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Yeah, but they're not here yet, are they?
- Megan Donner: Horatio, we've been through this before.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: ValuJet in '96; I recall it well.
- Megan Donner: Then I don't need to remind you that feds have jurisdiction over any air crash. They deputize local agencies. We're working for them.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Take a look at this.
- Calleigh Duquesne: [inspecting an entry wound] Looks like a medium caliber. Maybe a .32 or a .38.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: And the bullet may still be lodged in the fuselage. Do you think we could find it?
- Calleigh Duquesne: Does Elvis wear a white jumpsuit?
- Calleigh Duquesne: What have you got?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Nothing. Not a pen, not a piece of paper, not a paper clip, nothing. Who travels with an empty briefcase? That's odd, right?
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: The Everglades is a slow-moving river with a current that travels about four feet per hour.
- Megan Donner: I know. The crash site is degrading while we're standing here. We're losing evidence.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Four feet per hour. We need to start processing right now.
- Megan Donner: That's not your call, or mine.
- [first lines]
- [Horatio & Eric arrive upon the scene of an airplane crash]
- Eric Delko: [to phone] Flight 906, outbound Miami to D.C. Dropped off the radar at 0820, crashed right after takeoff.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: How many on board?
- Eric Delko: [to Horatio] NTSB confirms 2 pilots, 6 passengers - total of 8 souls.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: 8 souls unaccounted for, OK.
- [Eric pumps on a man's chest trying to reanimate him]
- Eric Delko: Come on, breathe!
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Eric. Eric! He's gone.
- Eric Delko: I lost him.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: It happens.
- Eric Delko: He could have told us something.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: We don't need him to.
- Lieutenant Horatio Caine: [looks around] We've got the whole story right here.
