The Angels head to Mazatlan on their next case. A small charter plane based in Mazatlan and flying between Mazatlan and the US crashes on US soil, killing the flight attendant, Laurie Mason. The crash was caused by the pilot, Dan Mason, their now injured but recuperating client, being shot by a hijacker, who was after the cargo on board: heroin being smuggled across the border, the heroin about which Dan was unaware on takeoff. Dan was also unaware that Laurie, his sister, was a junkie, a small amount of that heroin strapped to her body. The charter company is owned by Frank Bartone, a wealthy Mexican businessman who the Mexican authorities suspect is the head of a massive drug ring, but whose organization they cannot infiltrate to discover that needed proof. Dan not only wants them to find that evidence of Bartone being the smuggler, Bartone who he believes got Laurie hooked on drugs, but to discover who tried to hijack the plane, the chief suspect being Bartone's emerging new rival, an unknown man going by the code name Escobar. Dan has arranged for his fellow pilot and friend, Jim Taylor, to be their inside contact, Sabrina who will be the only known Townsend associate to Jim working on the case, she posing as the newly hired flight attendant and his love interest. Kelly, as an American tourist, is assigned to work on infiltrating womanizing Bartone's circle. And Jill is assigned to see if Bartone's daughter, Maria, a competitive swimmer, knows anything, Jill who is to try and get a job as her new swim coach.
