Seduced by the Dark Side
claudio_carvalho19 April 2007
While watching her favorite movie on video, Phoebe sees Cole in the film and he contacts her. Meanwhile, the evil high-priestess Dantalian uses the warlock Zile to shift to the shape of Piper and steal Prue's lipstick in P3. She prepares a magic potion with the lipstick and when the shape-shift Zile changes to Justin Harper, he dates and kisses Prue immediately freezing her. Dantalian marries them, turning Prue evil. Piper, Phoebe and the Book of Shadows also become evil through their connection with Prue, and the sisters enjoy their evil warlock powers. However human Cole helps the evil Phoebe to find Prue, while she calls out for Belthazor.

In "Bride and Gloom", Piper and Phoebe feel how seductive is the powerful dark side. Phoebe confesses to Cole that she loves him, but after her traumatic experience, she is afraid of the connection with evil. Unfortunately this good episode has an abrupt conclusion. My vote is eight.

Prue gets tricked into a dark marriage by a demon and a priestess in order to turn the Book of Shadows evil

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this episode was really good, and if people are true charmed fans they will know Prue got married first. I think that the actresses of charmed are all extremely talented, and believe that Shannen Doherty is miles ahead of Rose McGowan in future episodes. When Shannen left Charmed, I really missed her and think it is a shame she left. Shannen acted tremendously in this episode, as did all of the other actors, including Brian Krause, Julian McMahon, who I adore, Alyssa Milano, who I also adore, and Holly Marie Combs. All in all, I believe this is a top-form episode and one of my favourites. I enjoyed seeing the Charmed ones act evil, though there is a fault in the plot as regards to the fact that if one Charmed one turns evil, the other two will as well and so will the Book of Shadows, as this never happens in future episodes, e.g. when Phoebe turned into the queen of the underworld, Piper and Paige remained good. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment!

The good, the bad and the half-demon

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is mixed. There are some honestly good points. I can empathise with Prue's regret that her younger sister is getting married while she is still in a rut. As usual, her wish to be first will come true in a rather unpleasant way. The scene with the wedding planners is another great moment, as we watch the very familiar conflict (he's happy with sausages, she demands fine cuisine --she wins) degenerate into a very Halliwellian conflict about magic. Even though it's obvious that Leo has a point, I think every girl watching this is rooting for Piper's "Cinderella complex."

Beyond that, the main plot is a bit weird, though it adds another dimension to the connection between the sisters and the Book of Shadows, and also between one another. The demon's plan is unusual, but oddly efficient. I must be fun for the Charmed Ones to be evil once in a while --they start with childish pranks and quickly escalate into full-on rampage --all to Cole's dismay, which is rather ironic. Besides, the ending is much too easy. So Prue is still good enough to say "I love you", even though her sisters (who are only evil through her) had a lot of fun traumatizing humans and smashing Leo to pieces? I find it a bit difficult to follow. But what really gets me is the complete lack of consequences. In some episodes, the least mistake can turn out to be lethal while in others, the Charmed Ones (but only them) can literally get away with murder and mayhem as long as they apologize. Just because "they were not themselves at the time" is really no excuse for what they did to Leo --days before the wedding!-- yet the guy doesn't even bat a lid. Just consider the message it sends.

Finally, I have to mention that yay, Cole is back! And as usual, he makes quite a comeback; you have to give him points for originality. I rather like how conflicted Phoebe is about loving/hating/ignoring/kissing him, and how hard he's trying to be good (a bit too hard if you compare with later episodes, actually). I am quite looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Here comes the bride

The ep based around absolute power corrupting absolutely was bound to rest its head sometime. How do you surpass temptation and deliver yourself from evil? Are family and familiar bounds stronger then the dark side. The other was a better understanding towards struggling nature. What makes a person good or bad by being born that way or created?

The special effects budget seemed to grow as it was very simplistic yet realistic. Even though it felt they went a little overboard. All The leads looked beautiful and I love their outfits. The villain was great with a flawless plan and very menacing attire. I loved every moment of it and couldn't wait to see the satisfying climax.
