The Brotherhood of Thorn
claudio_carvalho26 April 2007
Cole returns and visits Phoebe, asking her to cast a spell to quit his evil powers. However, while walking with Cole, Phoebe unsuccessfully tries to save a street preacher vanquishing a demon, and Cole claims that the demon was his brother. Cole tells the Halliwell sisters and Leo that he was a member of the powerful demoniac Brotherhood of Thorn. He proposes to join the brotherhood again undercover to disclose their evil intentions, but Prue and Pipers do not trust on Cole. Meanwhile, the brotherhood accepts Cole back with restrictions, since they suspect of his true intentions. Cole has to prove that he is evil killing an important businessman, while The Charmed Ones plan how to save the victim without jeopardizing Cole.

In this unfinished episode, Cole sacrifices his freedom to help the Halliwell sisters. Prue and Piper never trust on him while Phoebe truly believes he turned good. The sequel of this show is promising since we do not know what might happen to Cole. My vote is seven.

Cole the spy

Warning: Spoilers
A nice Cole focused story that introduces a secret organization he once belong to. The brotherhood sets up how demons infiltrate the mortal world and how Cole was able to become a lawyer. Another good thing is testing Cole's loyalties to see what side he really belongs to since he could go either way. Cole's lie about the brotherhood was very believable and shows how persuasive he can be with his lawyer past. My favorite ep dealing with his true nature as you excitement, mystery and heart break ending on a cliff hanger.

I like the concepts it sets up with Cole wanting to be normal and yet misses the excitement of it all. He sees his power as the only thing that will keep his beloved alive. It will be revisited many times yet none will hold the reverence or threat it possess here.

My only problem with the concept is the brotherhood seems underused only being featured in two episode since they could easily take the place of the triad now their gone. Stay tuned for the fitting conclusion.

Most smarmy bad guys

This show has a knack of casting withered out husks of men for villains. While Cole is yummy, he's a lone instance of a handsome villain. His mentors and supervisors, on the other hand, are poster-boys for elective celibacy. They all suffer from the affliction of ugly with beady eyes and lipless grimaces. It's only compounded by their wooden acting.
