- Woody's parents get a gift for Kelly and Woody: small pet pig named Snuffles. Pet is somewhat of a misnomer as the Boyds, from a farming background, see Snuffles as Christmas dinner. Rebecca has an immediate connection with Snuffles as an animal. She wants to buy Snuffles after she hears about its ultimate fate. When Woody won't sell, Rebecca sets Snuffles free in the country. When Rebecca hears who ends up finding Snuffles, she sees the story as a Christmas miracle, until... Meanwhile, Sam starts dating Susan Metheny, the widow of Kirby, the man who bought Sam's Corvette. Sam is only doing so as he wants his Corvette back at a reduced rate. Susan, a kindergarten teacher, is a nice, sweet, innocent, shy woman who is vulnerable at the best of times, let alone at this grieving point in her life. But Sam only has his Corvette on the brain and doesn't even consider Susan's feelings. Susan ultimately decides that she won't be a pushover this time around when it comes to her feelings, a lesson which Sam learns much like a child would.—Huggo
- Woody's family has gotten him and Kelly a pig, which he has named Snuffles, and keeps at Cheers. Rebecca is completely enamored with the little pig, but whereas she sees Snuffles as a pet, Woody sees him as an eventual source of food.
Completely upset by what will befall Snuffles, Rebecca takes him out into the countryside, and releases him into the wild. Woody is at first upset at this, but then gets a call from home that Snuffles returned to the Boyd family in Indiana. Rebecca claims it to be a Christmas Miracle that Snuffles is now safe...while Woody mutters under his breath the truth that the family cooked and ate Snuffles (who was delicious).
Sam is surprised when a woman named Susan Metheny comes into the bar asking for information about his old Corvette. She claims that her husband Kirby (who had purchased Sam's Corvette some time ago) has passed away, and her lawyer needs further information regarding the Corvette's validation.
When he hears that Susan has no real plans to drive it, Sam begins to concoct a scheme to get his car back at a a reduced price. He then begins to date Susan, who over the course of a week, really appreciates what Sam is doing (unknowing of his true intentions).
After the week's time, Sam attempts to purchase his Corvette back at a smaller price, and after how it seems he's 'helped' her, Susan accepts. However, as Sam goes to get his checkbook, Woody lets slip how Sam has been talking about nothing but getting his Corvette back all week. When Sam returns, Susan angrily rebukes him for what he's done, throws the car keys at him and storms off, claiming he can just have it.
Sam is at first ecstatic that he's gotten his Corvette back for free, but soon suffers enormous guilt for hurting Susan, which in turn has caused him to not be careful driving his car. Hoping to apologize, Sam finds Susan at her job as a kindergarten teacher, offering to properly pay for the car, and apologizes for his actions.
In a shocking move, Susan claims that she will not forgive him. Sam pleads for her to do so, but she still refuses. Hoping to get her to change her mind, he sits in on her class refusing to leave. In turn, Susan tells the class that Sam has lied, causing him to be ridiculed and put into a cardboard 'dog house' in the back of the room for the remainder of the day.
By the end of the day, Susan finds it in her heart to forgive Sam, and he offers to take her out to dinner as another part of his apology. She accepts, and claims she's glad he didn't use such horrible tactics to try and get Kirby's boat too...the words of which cause Sam to stop for a few seconds.
