Quotes
-
B.J. 'Buzz' Connors : Miss Ewing, my name's Buzz Connors. This is, eh, Cliff Barnes.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Cliff Barnes? I've heard a lot about you.
Cliff Barnes : Oh, I'm sure you have. I can't imagine any of it having being favorable.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Well, you're much more attractive than your reputation.
Cliff Barnes : You're far too pretty to be a Ewing.
B.J. 'Buzz' Connors : Cliff was just leaving.
-
Barbara Walsh : What kind of child were you looking for?
Sue Ellen Ewing : A newborn. A baby.
Barbara Walsh : Mrs. Ewing, most people who come in here seem to want newborns. I try to discourage it. So many single mothers are keeping their babies now, and with abortion, with the Pill, well, the supply is very limited. It could take a long time.

Sue Ellen Ewing : [picking up portrait] You look very pretty in your bathing suit.
Rita Briggs : Give me that!
[rushing down stairs]
Rita Briggs : Who said you could go through my things?
[grabs portrait]
Sue Ellen Ewing : Well, I'm sorry.
Rita Briggs : You spent a couple of bucks on me, you think... you think you can... own me?
Sue Ellen Ewing : That's from a beauty contest, isn't it?
Rita Briggs : Maybe.
Sue Ellen Ewing : I was in a beauty pageant once.
Rita Briggs : Oh, yeah? Which one?
Sue Ellen Ewing : Miss Texas.
Rita Briggs : So big deal. I... I was in the Miss... Teen Texas one.
Sue Ellen Ewing : How did you do?
Rita Briggs : I was voted Miss Congeniality.
[almost spelling that out]
Rita Briggs : That means they liked me.
[Sue Ellen smiles]
Rita Briggs : How did you do?
Sue Ellen Ewing : Well, I was, uh, voted Miss Texas.
Rita Briggs : [nods] I knew it. I knew it! I... You always get what you want, don't you?
Sue Ellen Ewing : Well, I didn't get Miss America.
[scoffs]
Sue Ellen Ewing : I didn't even make it to the finals.
Rita Briggs : Did you cry?
Sue Ellen Ewing : [nods] Yeah. I cried for three days.
Rita Briggs : [sad smirk, nods] I... I cried when I lost, too.
Sue Ellen Ewing : [reaching out to the girl who is now subdued] Uh, why don't we have a little lunch?
Rita Briggs : [pushes hand away] Look, Mrs. Ewing, you don't gotta keep hanging around here, you know?
Sue Ellen Ewing : I know. But I want to. Let's go.
-
Sue Ellen Ewing : [crying] J.R., you can't walk out on me! Do you know how that makes me feel?
[he continues walking to his car]
Sue Ellen Ewing : I wanna have a baby when I'm young!
[as he climbs into car:]
Sue Ellen Ewing : You got everything! You got your business, and I got *nothing!* I gotta have something to hold on to!
J.R. Ewing : All right, darling, I'll buy you a puppy.
[throws car into reverse and zooms off]
