Tina Louise: Julie Grey
Quotes
-
Julie Grey : [at outdoor restaurant, Cliff is settling in to eat junk food] You sure must have a cast-iron stomach.
Cliff Barnes : Hey, Julie.
[goes over]
Cliff Barnes : When did you get back into town?
Julie Grey : Two weeks ago.
Cliff Barnes : You must know that I am now a power in Dallas.
Julie Grey : Can't be much of a power. Look where you eat.
Cliff Barnes : Oh, no, I... I like to eat among the people.
Julie Grey : Well, for a politician, you sure take rotten care of your most valuable possession.
Cliff Barnes : What?
Julie Grey : Your mouth.
Cliff Barnes : Oh. Oh, very funny. Is this a coincidence that we meet, or are you doing undercover work for J.R.?
[she lowers her eyes]
Cliff Barnes : Whoops. Bad choice of words. I assume that you've resumed your relationship with Texas' answer to Michael Corleone?
[smiles, lifts his glass]
Julie Grey : He's not that bad, Cliff.
Cliff Barnes : Are you his emissary?
Julie Grey : No, I'm early for a job interview across the street.
Cliff Barnes : You're not workng for Ewing Oil?
Julie Grey : No.
Cliff Barnes : You see, I don't understand that. I do not understand why J.R. doesn't give you a vice presidency with a large yearly bonus.
Julie Grey : [smiles, raises her eyes] Why do you think I'm worth that?
Cliff Barnes : Because you're gorgeous.
[she scoffs]
-
Julie Grey : [to herself, as she checks up on her jewelry case] J.R., you were so worried about what I know, you had my apartment searched. You'll never find it...
[smiles]
Julie Grey : because you don't know where to look.
[looks up at herself in mirror]
-
Cliff Barnes : [answering machine] This is Cliff Barnes. I'm out right now. Leave your name and number after the tone, and I'll get back to you.
[beep]
Julie Grey : [tearfully] Hello, Cliff? This is Julie. You're right, I do know where the skeletons are buried. I've been hurt enough, and I'm ready to sell. All we have to talk about is the price.
-
Jeb Ames : [as Julie opens door] Hi, Julie.
Julie Grey : Mr. Ames. Oh, this is a surprise.
Jeb Ames : [flashing big smile] Can I come in?
Julie Grey : [reluctantly] Yes, I guess so.
Jeb Ames : Julie, I know you just got back to Dallas and all, but I'm afraid it's time for you to move on again.
Julie Grey : I see. Did J.R. send you?
Jeb Ames : Oh, no. But I'm sure he'll agree once he finds out you've been trying to make a deal with Barnes.
Julie Grey : [lowers her eyes, soft sigh] You had my phone tapped, didn't you?
Jeb Ames : Julie, when you were J.R.'s secretary, you knew about all our deals. Now, we can't allow you to sell out to Barnes.
[shakes his head]
Jeb Ames : That wouldn't be smart now, would it?
Julie Grey : [sighs, panic in her voice] Look, you don't understand, Mr. Ames. There's a lot that went down this afternoon!
Jeb Ames : I understand. I understand you've got five minutes to pack.
Julie Grey : [shakes her head desperately] Look, you haven't got anything to worry about.
Jeb Ames : Time's running out, Julie!
[snarls:]
Jeb Ames : You get packing.
[guides her to the door of her bedroom, which she tries to close as she enters]
Jeb Ames : Leave the door open!
