The little boy who talks in front of the new house on his way to Oregon to plant apples, was a special favor for the boy who was dying. He wanted to be an actor and his parents contacted David Milch, who created that small scene for him. He saw the episode on a tape he was sent, but died just three days before it aired. (Milch talks about this on the DVD commentary.)
Garrett Delahunt plays Francis Wolcott. In season 1 he played Jack McCall, the killer of Wild Bill Hickock.
