In season one, Dick Van Dyke's real life brother, Jerry starred in two episodes as Rob's younger brother, Stacey. In these episodes, Stacey has a weird form of sleepwalking where an alternate personality pops out. Eventually, he learns to bring out this personality when he's awake.
Now in "Stacey Petrie: Part I", Stacey is back. He comes to the Petrie household for several reasons. First, he was just discharged from the Army. Second, he's going to be opening up a night club. And, third, he's going to visit a woman he's fallen in love with and has been corresponding with for years...though she THINKS he's his friend, Jim....as shy Stacey's been signing Jim's names to the letters. In many ways, it's like Cyrano de Bergerac...and the resolution to this occurs in "Stacy Petrie: Part II".
In "Stacey Petrie" Part I", Stacey is so nervous about meeting the woman in person and proclaiming his love to her, he wants to go on a practice date...especially since he's super-shy. What follows is a total disaster...and something you just have to see to believe.
Overall, Jerry is funny but I'm glad they didn't put him in even more episodes because his episodes leave me worn out!
