An Invitation to Romance
Prismark1012 May 2021
More an Invitation to a farce as it involves several obnoxious characters.

Benton has to deliver a party invitation at the Canadian consulate where his boss at the consulate is being a jerk.

While out on a delivery Benton saves the life of airhead Katherine Burns, who is not paying attention to the traffic.

In a mix up Katherine has the party invitation and Benton needs to retrieve it. Only Katherine to self absorbed and does not listen to anything Benton has to say.

It turns out that the letter actually needed to be delivered to her jealous fiance. A dicey business man according to Vecchio.

The fiance sends someone to follow Katherine as he is convinced that she is having an affair with Benton.

Jane Krakowski gives an early tour de force performance as Katherine Burns. She is extremely irritating but she settles down and gradually lightens up with Benton.

This is an offbeat episode but I thought the showdown with the fiance was rather underwhelming. There was a touch of the Bruce Willis/Cybill Shepherd vehicle Moonlighting about it all.
