LUKA THE DESTROYER
slak96u1 March 2022
Maura Tierney really does carry this episode. Over the run of ER very few replacement characters were as strong as the originals, if anything Abby is the only one. It's a coin-toss between Abby Lockhart and Carol Hathaway in my opinion, if anything Abby as a character was more crucial to the show, as the cast wasn't as strong during her period.

Sherry Stringfield was also excellent, always felt like her character was neglected over her run. Mark Greene's storyline is building up, and an actual Luka sighting.

Also.... Troy Evans as Frank has been consistently hilarious the last couple episodes, great punchlines and one liners.

Corday Has Two Children To Deal With
spasek8 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Despite Season 8 being the weakest so far, there are still plenty of really good episodes. This is another one.

Greene and Corday remain vigilant and hopeful that Ella will pull through. And yet, Greene hasn't come up with any viable plan for Rachel and what to do. In many ways, he's like another child who's too afraid of losing his friend instead of doing what's best. Loved it, but also a bit sad, to see Corday finally having to take the reins and demonstrate some real parenting. Like I said before: being a parent isn't about being your child's friend. It's about doing what's in their best interest, and often, this leads to unpopular decisions. Meanwhile, Mark is showing signs that his tumor has returned.

On the other side, Abby continues to try and help her neighbor get away from her abusive husband. It was a shocking scene to see Abby being assaulted. However, it also made no sense in how it was done. Brian has barged his way into Abby's apartment asking and then demanding to know where his wife is. He leaves. Abby locks the door. But then, Brian knocks again. I've spoken to a number of women, and they've all stated that what Abby did made no sense at all. No woman would open the door to a man who's prone to violence, and who is clearly agitated. It would have made more sense if Brian had kicked the door down or if he had attacked her as he was initially leaving. The writers were going for shock value rather than common sense.

Still, the beauty of the episode rests with Luka as he tracks Brian down. As we know, men who beat women and/or children are true cowards at heart. They can never deal with someone who can fight back. It was beautiful to see Luka beating him and seeing Brian pleading like the gutless coward he is. I laughed when Luka said, "You better start swinging back!" And finally leaving Brian crying like a baby on the pool table.

A Simple Twist of Fate (#8.14)

Warning: Spoilers
Oh no, it doesn't look good for Mark. They are definitely preparing us for a story about his health issues. Why should it happen to him, he is such a nice person and in all that trouble.

Elizabeth has lost it, do female characters always have to lose brain cells with babies being born? Can't she be as reasonable as Mark? I am really not her fan now.

I do like the Abby story. It actually went a little bit different than I thought and I liked it. I actually liked Abby and was pretty impressed with Maura Tierney's acting in this episode.

It was also great to see Jerry! I have been missing him, I kind of like him more than Frank. And it was pretty funny with the bagel issue.
