- Ray and Robert think they're big shots because of their jobs.
- Having been forced by Marie, Ray reluctantly takes Robert to the Hall of Fame to meet the 1969 New York Mets, where the team is signing autographs. When they arrive, they find that the line is incredibly long. Since Ray is a "big shot" sports writer, he tries to use that as an excuse to get to the front of the line. Security kicks him out pretty quickly, so Robert doesn't get to meet his hero Art Shamsky. Then on the drive home, they're pulled over by a police officer for speeding. So, Robert tries to be a "big shot", since he is a fellow cop, and tries to save Ray from getting a ticket. But it doesn't work.
- Debra is worried that Ray is watching boxing with Frank in front of the kids, while Ray is worried that the kids are watching too much ballet. Frank says that Ray only has a month or two before the ballet sticks.
Hall of Fame is hosting a ceremony to honor the 69 Mets and Ray is invited to cover the event as a sports journalist. Robert asks Marie to ask Ray to take him to the event. Ray doesn't want to, but Marie forces him. Ray didn't want to drive all the way to Coopertown for 4 hours with Robert, but eventually agrees. Robert decides to take pictures all through the trip to make memories. Robert is in awe of the perks Ray receives as a sports-writer, including meeting sports idols and free hot dogs. Ray is shocked to learn that Robert wants the player named Shamsky to sign Robert's dog collar for his dog that he has named Shamsky II.
In order to impress Robert at the Baseball Hall of Fame, Ray tries to use his status as a sportswriter to jump to the front of the line to meet the 1969 Mets. Robert wants to wait in the line, but Ray insists on cutting the line. But the press event was the previous evening which Ray didn't attend. The current day was for the 69'ers to meet the general public, many of whom had been waiting all morning. The waiting time in the line is over 3 hours. Ray tries to cut in line with a guy who recognizes him as the sports journalist, but the people behind object and Ray is thrown out. Ray tries to get chummy with 69er Ted McGraw (again cutting the line), who tells Ray to take a hike since Ray wrote an unflattering article about ball players taking commentary roles and irritating the public. Ray still insists that he wants to speak to Art Shamsky for a few seconds. Finally, the security team gets hold of Ray and throws him out of the stadium. They end up missing the event and Robert does not get the autograph of Art Shamsky in Shamsky II's dog collar.
Robert and Ray have lunch at a local diner and Robert makes fun of the fact that Ray's celebrity status is waning and it doesn't count for as much as he thought it would. Robert says that he is superior to Ray as he is humble. On the journey back, Ray is pulled over for speeding. Robert remains quiet at first as Ray had a no talking rule in the car. But later Robert tries to speak to the highway patrolman and introduces himself as a NYPD office. But the highwayman is intent on issuing a ticket, which offends Robert, who calls him a "sticks" policeman. The patrolman is offended and writes Ray another ticket for an expired registration sticker.
Meanwhile back at the stadium, the local cafe is jam packed in the evening with all the people at the event coming in for a bite. The 69ers can't get a seat and are told off when they try to cut the line.
