- Ray wants to keep a lovable bulldog he found in the neighborhood, but at Debra's request he reluctantly gives the dog away to Robert. However, after he has already given him away, the dog's rightful owner shows up to claim him.
- The episode opens at Madison Square Garden where Ray is interviewing pro figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi in the locker room. This opening sequence has no relevance to the rest of the episode. As the main story begins, Ray comes home with a bulldog that has followed him home. Ray asks Debra if they can keep it, and of course she answers "no". So they post signs around town saying that a lost bulldog was found. In the meantime, Robert sees the dog and falls in love with it. He had a pet bulldog just like that one when he was a kid. But the family had to get rid of it because of Ray's childhood allergies. When no one comes to claim the dog, Ray gives it to Robert. But not long after that, the owner, Phyllis, shows up at the door wanting her dog back. So Ray heads across the street to get the dog. Over there, Robert was so happy with the dog that Marie made Frank get their old "moving pictures camera" and film the occasion. Amongst all the happiness, Ray tells them he has to give the owner back her dog. So Ray did just that. But then the owner didn't want the dog anymore because he had been neutered. She only owned him because he was a prize-winning stud, and made her a lot of money. So Robert ended up keeping the dog after all and naming it Shamsky Roman Numeral 2 ( or Shamsky Number 2) after his first bulldog Shamsky...who was originally named after his favorite baseball player Art Shamsky.
- Ray interviews Kristi Yamaguchi in the women's locker room. Kristi is an Olympic Gold Medalist, World Champion, was on the cover of the People Magazine. Ray gets really uncomfortable when Kristi gets naked in front of him, while changing her clothes.
A bulldog follows Ray home, and he decides to keep it. Debra loves dogs but doesn't want another member in the family that eats and poops. Besides the twins are starting to walk and they are a handful to handle by themselves. Ally says that the dog smells. As a child, Ray had a bulldog just like the one who followed him home. The dog belonged to Robert. Once he and Robert dressed the dog in wig and lipstick and Frank ended up dancing with it. Robert named the dog Shamsky (after his favorite ball player) when they were young, and Robert had to give him up because of Ray's allergies. Ray is not allergic to the dogs anymore.
Ray begs Debra and she agrees to keep the dog till the owner shows up to claim it back.
Debra is annoyed by the noise the dog makes throughout the night (with the chew toy that Ray got for him) and she hasn't slept in 3 nights. When Ray takes away the chew toy, the dog starts barking at his bedroom door. Debra says that the owners are not claiming the dog back as they are finally getting a good night's sleep. Ray says that he loves the dog like an incredibly ugly son.
Robert gets very attached to the bulldog and calls him Shamsky II. Robert says that the Dog looks very much like Shamsky. Debra sees the chemistry between Robert and Shamsky II and presses Ray to gift the dog to Robert. Ray can also see that Robert is really emotional about Shamsky II and has already developed a special bond with him. Ray asks Robert to take Shamsky II. Robert is so thankful that he gifts Ray a putter. Robert is a whole different person with the dog.
The owner comes looking for her pet based on the fliers posted by Ray and Debra all over the neighborhood. Debra knows the owner Phyllis (Patience Cleveland) who informs Ray and Debra that the dog is a prize-winning stud. Phyllis had left town for a few weeks and came back recently to find that the gardener had let him out. The dog's name is Baron. Debra tells Phyllis that Baron is playing with Ray's brother across the street and sends Ray to get him back to return to Phyllis. Robert is shattered. Marie and Frank were competing among themselves to buy him the best chew toys. Robert knows what it is like to lose a dog and returns the dog to Phyllis.
When the owner sees that Shamsky II has been fixed as Robert had the dog neutered (He and Frank spent $200 on the procedure), she forces Ray to buy it for $2000. She doesn't want the dog for companionship, just for the cash he would generate by being a dog breeder.
