Although Kevin James guest-starred on the show eight times, he played two different characters. He was Kevin for six of them. It wasn't until The Lone Barone (1998) that he appeared as Doug Heffernan, his character on The King of Queens (1998), a 1998 sister/spinoff series of Everybody Loves Raymond (1996).
In attendance at the wedding is Cousin Gerard, who later returned in six more episodes of the series. He can be seen when Ray and Debra are walking down the aisle. Fred Stoller filmed one scene for this episode where Gerard auditions to play music at the wedding with his accordion but it was deleted. The scene can be viewed on the season 2 DVD set.
The piano song played before Ray & Debra get married, is "Clair De Lune" by Claude Debussy.
Several recurring characters are not present at the wedding: Gianni and Amy are not there, although Amy was working with Debra at the time of her wedding and Gianni and Ray were also friends at the time. Also, Bernie is there, but Linda is not, though it is possible that they were not yet a couple at the time of Ray's wedding.
