A rather sad story...with a not so sad ending.

"Eye of the Storm" is a very good episode of "The F.B.I." and it's about the kidnapping of a baby. But like an earlier episode, season one's "The Baby Sitter", it involves a mentally ill woman stealing a child. However, the two episodes are quite different...enough that both are worth your time.

When the story begins, Mr. Tobin (Billy Dee Williams) goes into a local business...leaving his wife (Denise Nicholas) in the truck. She soon gets out and wanders about...until she finds a baby inside a locked car. She impulsively steals it and tells her husband that 'some lady gave it to me'....and surprisingly he doesn't really question her much about this nor contact the police. Later, when he learns that the baby was owned by a well to do family, he decides to see if he can ransom the child back...or, perhaps, just keep the ransom money...it's not certain which he intends to do. But there's a glitch to his plan...the child has contracted the plague (seriously) and so has the wife!

The episode clearly indicates the wife is ill following a recent miscarriage...and it incredibly sensitive about this...which I appreciate. It's also very sensitive in how it handles race, as most of the folks involves are black. It did a good job on both issues. Overall, an exciting episode marred only to a tiny degree in how Mr. Tobin acted...he was a bit confusing as a character. His wife, on the other hand, was sympathetic and sad.
