Judge Wedrock ?

Jean Vander Pyl had to be a great voice actress. In this episode, she makes Wilma truly annoying. All about how Fred doesn't behave the way he did, before he and Wilma were married. The premise wasn't as captivating as the writers of the episode apparently thought. This episode was well into the second season. Fred's behavior here was no better or worse than it had been all along. It was interesting that Betty suggested that Wilma was taking things too far. When Wilma is told that Judge Wedrock was unlicensed, she didn't seem particularly upset. She only used the situation as a way of "needling" Fred. Like Fred, she also didn't seem to care whether or not the marriage was valid. Perhaps, true love beneath the surface. Fred is superb in this episode. Barney's voice here was not Mel Blanc, but Daws Butler. Butler's delivery came across like an attempt to imitate Art Carney's Ed Norton. Less effective for that reason. Alan Reed sounded like he and Jackie Gleason might have come from the same neighborhood. They were both New Yorkers. However, "Fred Flintstone" never seemed like an imitation of Ralph Kramden.
