Barney Gets Laid Off
Jimmy_the_Gent420 February 2022
Fred tries to help Barney get a job at the gravel pit.

A funny episode for Season 3. It begins with Wilma and Betty getting new hairstyles. Barney finds out Mr Slate is his uncle, he then gets a job as an executive VP or as Barney pronounces it, "et-zekutive". The episode getting really funny when Barney has to treat Fred like an employee and Fred resents it. Funniest scene is when Fred takes Wilma bowling. She complains the ball has holes in it.

Flintstone, you're fired!

Warning: Spoilers
Of course, Fred didn't really get fired. His new boss, Mr. Rubble, convinced Mr. Slate to give Fred another chance. This is one of the most consistently funny episodes of the series. When Barney is laid off from his job, Wilma insists that Fred try to get Barney another job. Mr. Slate takes much exception to Fred even being in his house, let alone negotiating to get someone else a job. "I understand, alright. I understand that you're getting out of here right now, Flintstone!" Everything changes when Slate discovers that Barney is his nephew. This, in itself, is curious. Slate appears consistently, throughout the remainder of the series. His "relationship" to Barney is never mentioned after this episode. Anyway, Barney becomes Fred's boss, and this threatens the Flintstones' and Rubbles' friendship. Betty becomes very arrogant. What did she have to be so snobby about? Barney's new "position" wasn't any reflection on her. Great, great episode. Fred and Wilma bowling together is pretty funny. However, my favorite part is still when Slate literally throws Fred out of his house.
