Fred's Poker Winnings
Jimmy_the_Gent419 December 2021
Wilma wants to go out but Fred wants to play poker.

A very funny episode. One of the funniest scenes is when Fred makes up a story about a sick friend so he go to his poker game. When he wins he tells Wilma he found the $200 in a wallet. She decides to put an ad in the paper. Another funny moment is when Barney has to pose as an old lady who lost the money.

Warning: Spoilers
Somehow they manage to pack an unbelievable number of events into this delightful episode! Our favorite caveman,Fred Flintstone, seems to have an aversion to telling his wife the truth in this episode.

Fred is tired after work and he claims to want to stay home instead of going out somewhere with his wife Wilma. This thought lasts only a very short period of time, because before Wilma leaves the house, neighbor Barney Rubble stops-by and tells Fred about a big,not-to-be-missed poker game that is supposed to be happening this very evening, with a guest-of-honor that never wins at any of the poker parties.

Fred tries to keep Barney quiet about it while he decides what to do.

Before thinking,Fred starts to tell Wilma he's going out after all. Before Wilma can really ask any questions,Fred plunges headfirst into a long, ridiculous story about going to visit a sick friend. Barney nearly ruins things several times throughout the episode by talking too much or by being very slow to take a hint or cue. Barney is portrayed as a very likeable but slightly dense friend that can cause problems pretty-much by accident. When the heat is on he gets nervous and he cannot stop talking and sooner or later the wrong words come-out! We've all known people that act exactly like Barney does in this episode, and I'm sure we've all gotten ourselves into a jam with 'help' from a friend like Barney-it's all very believable.

The next dilemma presents itself after Fred wins $200 at the poker game. Barney asks Fred, where he will tell Wilma he got the money?

Now obviously Fred could simply not tell her about the money but if he didn't,the episode would be over. Fred and Barney both go to Fred's house and tell Wilma that Fred found the money in an old wallet with no ID in it. (Barney's old wallet that he donated to the charade).

The idea is to convince Wilma that there is no-way to find out who the money belongs to so Fred will just have to keep it.

Barney quickly ruins this when he suggest they put an ad in the newspaper lost+found. Wilma does this the very-next morning.

What now !? Fred and Barney decide that somehow they have to claim the money and figure out a way to actually get it back into their hands.

What follows is a wonderful fiasco that eventually blows-up in Fred and Barney's face and they are forced to confess the whole sad and sorry mess to Wilma.

The two men are lucky that Wilma didn't clobber them!

This is a truly hilarious episode. The closer you watch and pay attention, the funnier it is.

I wholeheartedly recommend this episode to anyone needing a good laugh, because this episode delivers with style ! 10/10 I say.
