Popping the "Paper Balloon"
JordanThomasHall25 October 2018
While taking the station wagon to be serviced, Sister Bertrille gets into an accident at an intersection, injuring her neck. The car she hit was occupied by "Paper Balloon" duo Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart (as themselves). A starstruck Sister Bertrille claims responsibility at the scene, but later realizes it may only be half her fault as the light was turning as she went through. Senior Alfonso T. Gomez (Ernest Sarracino) is leery of the hippies and tells the officer (Eugene Iglesias in his last role) that he witnessed the accident. He insists Boyce and Hart ran the red light. It leads to a TV news report slamming the duo and only two people showing up to their opening night at the casino. After talking with the agitated musicians Sister Bertrille once again thinks the accident is her fault, with the station wagon's brakes sticking. She talks with Senior Gomez who admits that it was her fault, but the musicians can afford it and the convent could use the money. The newspaper reports the truthful confession, but the TV news continues its crusade against the hippies. Sister Bertrille schemes for a solution.

This episode marks the third of three a TV appearances by Boyce and Hart on Columbia-owned Screen Gems productions, along with "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie". An aside, Bobby Hart while touring on his own in 1979 may have had flashbacks to the empty venue in this episode when reportedly only one person bought a ticket.
