Uncle Phil comes home late from the office with the news that he's getting The Urban Spirit Award. In celebration, Phil's parents come in from North Carolina for a visit, and Will is delighted to learn the truth about his uncle, beginning with the information that his real name is Zeke, he was raised on a farm in North Carolina (not Baltimore), and that his best friend as a child was a pig named Melvin. When a reporter comes around to do a story on Uncle Phil, she finds nothing of interest and is ready to kill the story until Will steps in with some juicier facts. The next morning, Uncle Phil reads about his humiliating past in the newspaper and is ready to murder Will before his mother intervenes, questioning why he would hide his past and try to pass himself off as something he's not. At a formal dinner in his honor, his mother refuses to talk to him - she even passes out okra, biscuits and fried chicken to the stuffy people at the table, which they love. Phil comes to realize that his past is part of who he is and what he's accomplished.
