Jay Leno appears in this episode and introduces a gag on The Tonight Show called the "Dancing Phils," in reference to Phillip Banks being the judge in a prominent celebrity trial. This is a nod to a real life sketch on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno featuring the "Dancing Itos," in which several dancers dressed like Judge Lance Ito did a dance routine. This was during the highly publicized O.J. Simpson murder trial over which Judge Ito presided.
The title is a reference to Prince, who -- a couple of years prior to the airing of this episode -- changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol, this earning him the nickname "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" from 1993 to 2000.
