- Narrator: [Richard Kimble is paying for a cup of coffee at a diner before he departs] This was Ray Miller, cutman. And before that, James Lincoln, bartender. And how many weary, lonely, heartbreaking identities before that? Only if he succeeds in discovering the man who made him an outcast can he again be Richard Kimble.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I only know that before a person gives up one thing for another, he has to want that other thing more.
- Laura Smith: He talks about dying if he leaves the ring and I couldn't do that to him. But the ring could kill him too.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Then get him to leave it.
