- Dr. Richard Kimble: I know everything's blown up in your face. Your work, your marriage, me. Especially me. But if I'm caught, people will forget.
- Ray Kimble: [surprised] I don't want you to get caught.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I don't intend to but until I'm cleared you've got to work out some kind of decent life for yourself.
- Ray Kimble: With your ghost hanging over me?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: [shrugging in apparent defeat] You can't say it, can you? You can't bring yourself to say you think I killed my wife.
- Ray Kimble: I NEVER said that!
- Dr. Richard Kimble: But you thought it, didn't you? Ray, you and I lived under the same roof, ate at the same table. When you were little and got scared you'd crawl up into my bed. Did you see any killer in me then?
- [Ray can say nothing]
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Can't you believe me?
- Ray Kimble: Dick, I want to.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: [again in apparent defeat] But you can't.
- Ray Kimble: Dick, I want to. Make me believe you.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: [his voice simultaneously angry and quivering] How? What am I supposed to do, live the million pieces of our lives over again? Yours, mine, Dad's? Am I supposed to relive them so they add up to you believing me?
- Ray Kimble: [his own voice simultaneously angry and pleading] Prove it to me!
- [Richard walks outside, followed by Ray]
- Ray Kimble: What are you gonna do?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I'm going to prove to you I'm not afraid to die.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: [to his father] I'll outrun Gerard... I'll outlast him. I'll live long enough for him to see me cleared.
