Plot summary
ynot-166 January 2007
A newspaper editor, angry about Gerard's treatment of his son, decides to show up Gerard by offering a $10,000 reward for the capture of Kimble. In a small town, a store proprietor who recognizes Kimble's photo in the newspaper hides the newspapers and calls Stafford for the reward.

Kimble is working at a small farm for Jacob Lawrence (actor Lin McCarthy) and has been helping his mentally disabled daughter Cathy (actress June Harding). She is now dependent on Kimble and is afraid he will leave.

Unfortunately for Kimble, there was already a manhunt going on in the area for escaped killer Jack Burmas (actor Paul Mantee), so he cannot easily get away. Kimble faces extreme danger from the existence of the roadblocks, the arrival of Lt. Gerard, the desperate actions of Burmas, and citizens anxious to win the $10,000 reward.

Two fugitives for the price of one
CCsito10 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has so much going on that it could be a stand alone movie by itself. Dr. Kimble is working as a handyman at a struggling farm operated by a father and his two daughters. All three family members have appeared in earlier episodes of the series under other characters. Lin McCarthy who plays the father was Dr. Kimble's brother in law in another episode. June Harding and Bonnie Beecher who portray the daughters also appeared in earlier episodes. The plot is very complicated with two young attractive women starving for affection (one who has mental deficiencies), a father looking to expand his farm, a store owner looking to cash in on Dr. Kimble's reward for his capture being offered by a newspaper reporter, an escaped murderer in the vicinity, a sheriff who may have come across with Dr. Kimble in Korea, and Police officer Gerard who gets notified about Kimble being around the farm area. Dr. Kimble befriends the farmer's younger daughter (she calls him her uncle) and tries to convince the father to have her get assistance for the learning impaired which he does not agree. The older daughter feels trapped in her current living situation and feels ignored by others who focus on her sister. The information about Kimble is exposed later in the episode and the farmer also wants a part of the reward. The escaped murderer gets into Kimble's truck and nearly kills him. Gerard and the sheriff form a roadblock to locate the two convicted murderers. Kimble comes across the murderer a second time and is forced to provide a hiding place for him (which is a secret location set up by the younger daughter). The younger daughter goes to her secret place and is taken as a hostage by the murderer. Kimble then has to leave the place as the murderer tries to use him as a diversion for the approaching law officials. He takes the younger daughter with him, but she is able to get away from him as Kimble tells her to jump into a water pond to get to safety. The murderer without a hostage then tries to shoot his way against the police, but is shot down. Gerard discovers that the shooting victim is not Kimble so he continues the search for him. Kimble and the younger daughter return to the secret hiding place. Kimble tells her that he has to leave because the police will keep looking for him. The younger daughter replies that the police are also looking for her and runs outside away from the secret place. This gives Kimble the opportunity to depart in a different direction as the younger daughter diverts the police attention towards her. So the ending indicates that the "slow" daughter can think of a way to help her friend all by herself.

This episode packs A LOT of plot into it!
planktonrules11 May 2017
There is more going on in "Ten Thousand Pieces of Silver" than any episode I can remember of "The Fugitive". One plot involves Kimble befriending a mentally challenged young lady and trying to help her learn to read. Another involves a DIFFERENT fugitive on the run who takes Kimble hostage. And, yet another involves there FINALLY being a reward for Kimble's capture...and greedy folks are hoping to cash in on it! That's a lot! Yet, despite there being so much in the show, they manage to balance it and make the story watchable and touching. Well worth seeing...and from now on, Kimble has a bounty on his head...which adds a new level of complexity to the story.

10/11/66 "Ten Thousand Pieces of Silver"

June Harding was a wide-eyed, gentle-mannered actress who appeared in two Fugitive episodes essentially playing the same character: a mildly retarded, child-like woman whom Kimble befriends, which causes her to want to share his life, which, is, of course, impossible. Her first appearance was in "Moon Child" from the second season. Here she's on a farm where Kimble has been working as a hand. A killer played by Paul Mantee is on the loose and sheriff's deputies are scouring the area looking for him, not realizing that they have a more famous, convicted, killer in their dragnet. Kimble is driving the family truck when the real murderer hijacks it to avoid the dragnet.

Meanwhile, a newspaper editor back in Stafford who has been a critic of the police department has put up a $10,000 reward for Kimble, so he now has a price on his head. When the locals hear about it, every one of them seems to want it for themselves, thus the title. This episode begins an emphasis on more action sequences. Kimble crashes the truck and almost drowns, in addition to his other problems.

A busy episode

A lot of interesting stuff going on here. For one, two of the three Len Tafts are in this one, and since Richard Anderson was playing various characters until The Judgement, Donna must have been married to yet another Len at this time. Also, the Moon Child is back, although she has a different identity in this one but is still the same persona. And the sheriff is sure he's seen Kimble before, and he's not buying the Clark Gable story. There is also a $10,000 reward being offered by the Stafford Chronicle, which looks like a bigger paper than the twice a week rag mentioned in Landscape. And there's another killer on the loose, a real baddie named Burmas. For some reason, the Stafford reward has become front page news in whatever town Kimble is in now, and the guy who owns the newsstand hides the papers so he can collect the reward. So he calls Stafford, and the editor tells Gerard that all he has to do is go pick him up. Of course, the brilliant lawman is totally incapable of doing this, as he has flubbed numerous chances in the past. Well, during all this, Dick is working on a farm, where both the farmer's daughters are crazy about him. One is the moon child, who loves her "uncle" Dick, and the other is nice enough and wants a more grown up relationship. Dick's fugey senses tell him to leave now, and good thing because the sheriff has finally seen the paper. Then the real killer, Burmas, shows up and things get dicey. The bad guy gets shot, moon child gets rescued, Gerard gets disappointed and Kimble gets away.

Tomorrows rerun?
kennyp-4417710 November 2021
Good episode, lots going on,but it feels like a cheaper and less involving rerun of A Taste of Tomorrow. This was problematic of the Fugitive where lazy writing rehash ed previous episodes, thinking we wouldn't notice!
