A newspaper editor, angry about Gerard's treatment of his son, decides to show up Gerard by offering a $10,000 reward for the capture of Kimble. In a small town, a store proprietor who recognizes Kimble's photo in the newspaper hides the newspapers and calls Stafford for the reward.
Kimble is working at a small farm for Jacob Lawrence (actor Lin McCarthy) and has been helping his mentally disabled daughter Cathy (actress June Harding). She is now dependent on Kimble and is afraid he will leave.
Unfortunately for Kimble, there was already a manhunt going on in the area for escaped killer Jack Burmas (actor Paul Mantee), so he cannot easily get away. Kimble faces extreme danger from the existence of the roadblocks, the arrival of Lt. Gerard, the desperate actions of Burmas, and citizens anxious to win the $10,000 reward.
